Good evening Digital Spy and welcome back to The X Factor: Mix It Up!

Last Sunday, the top nine faced a great challenge. In our 'Unplugged' theme, they had to put on a performance with only their voice and acoustic instruments. It was an eventful night, with some favourites falling and some underdogs rising in the ranks. Unfortunately show number five also marked the end of the road for Faye Bray, who was eliminated by the judges after facing John Wilding in the final showdown.

Tonight, you're in for a treat! The final eight will be relying on each other to survive as they were put in pairs at the end of last show. Each of these pairs consists of two acts from two different mentors, hence the 'collaborations' theme. Each pair will sing two songs, one chosen by each mentor.

After all four pairs have performed twice, the lines will open and you, the DS public, will be able to vote for your favorite pair of the night. Once the voting window closes, the votes will be tallied and the lowest scoring PAIR will be leaving the competition immediately. No gimmicks or sing-offs this time, just the public vote!

With the compulsory introduction part out of the way, let's take a look at the stars of tonight's show:

unclekevo and the OVERS
Michelle Barrett
Yuli Minguel

Soppyfan and the last of the GROUPS
Miss Fitz

jackel1234 and the GIRLS
Despina Pilavakis
Shanna Goodhead

And finally SacredDiablo and the BOYS
Brennin Hunt
John Adams
John Wilding

But more importantly, these are the PAIRS that you'll see tonight:

Miss Fitz & Despina Pilavakis
Michelle Barrett & John Adams
Shanna Goodhead & John Wilding
Brennin Hunt & Yuli Minguel

Just three minutes late today, we've seen worse than that. Judges, are you all here?

I'm here and present, but I'm feeling 50/50 on tonight cause one bad song choice could mean the end of the road for two and I don't wanna be actless, not after the way I've messed things up recently.

Not everyone's online yet (maybe they forgot the show again ), but we might as well start now instead of waiting ages for everyone to get over here.

Soppyfan, please introduce the pair that will open this wonderful and entertaining evening!

Don't forget to post the lyrics yourself, they were NOT included in the song list!

Girls, what can I say! This was a big gamble from Jack, but whatever he had in mind, it just worked. Despina, you continue to be ahead of the other female acts in the competition and you rocked it out. Now my girls, that was another change of direction for you three, but the way you handled that song was like you practiced it for weeks. I'm very pleased with this first performance, I so cannot wait for your second performance, girls, a really great start to the show.

Miss Fitz and Despina

Miss Fitz I know this song isn't in your type of musical styling but I know for a fact that you Gemma have a great soul voice which is why I chose a song to show off those vocals. I know Despina's got the more powerful soul vocals which is why I gave her the power solos and had you girls create some fantastic harmonies underneath. I think the risk paid off tonight girls because you guys smashed it!

Did the risk really pay off? I guess that will be up to the public, but nonetheless a very solid performance from Miss Fitz and Despina!

The next pair to perform is our first boy + over pairing of the night. SacredDiablo may have the most acts left at the moment, but that makes him very vulnerable to tonight's double elimination. Hoping to avoid that dreadful 4th place tonight are John Adams & Michelle Barrett singing 'Summer Is Over' by Jon McLaughlin ft. Sara Bareilles!

John, I have to say. You have just taken over as the best Boy in the competition after that performance. A lovely song that suited your quiet and raw voice so well to the ground, I think you and Brennin are gonna be trying to out-sing each other and I think that's exciting. Michelle, it wasn't your strongest but your voice complimented John's and it made a very good duet. I hope you can do better later but for now, I thought you both did a really good job, well done.

John Adams and Michelle Barrett

John this suited your voice fantastically and couldn't of been a better choice for you but with you Michelle I think that the tone of this womans voice didn't suit yours that well. Overall it was a solid performance but I think John absolutely smashed it on this song tonight and Michelle gave a decent performance.

Mixed comments, John's getting the praise while Michelle isn't. Unfortunately for John, he needs Michelle to survive the bottom 2 tonight. Will they blow everyone away with their second performance?

Up next it's the boys and the girls categories singing together, so why don't we go over to Jack for the introduction of this third pair?

Well, I thought this was a very clever duet you pulled off there tonight. Shanna, you gave me a brilliant performance on the last show, so there was pressure for you to maintain it and I think you did almost as good as you did previously, but nicely done. And John, I know you've had trouble getting support but if I'm honest, I hope the public will vote for you because that was a really fantastic performance from your side of things. I'm very impressed and I look forward to your second song later.

Shanna and John

Guys that was absolutely fantastic. Once again I took a risk tonight as the songs aren't generally in your two's style but I definately think the risk paid off. Shanna I love working with you and how you can take on almost any challenge given and John I think for me that was a fantastic choice for you and I also hope the public get behind you and save you and Shanna again this week!

After quite a long wait Shanna and John finally got their comments (just kidding ). But have they done well enough as a pair to break John Wilding's bottom 2 streak?

Closing the first round of performances are Brennin Hunt & Yuli Minguel singing a song chosen for them by SacredDiablo: 'Everything Burns' by Ben Moody & Anastacia

Brennin and Yuli

Yuli this is one of those weeks where I thought this was below your usual extremely high standard of song as in this song you didn't really have that edge to your voice which I've loved from you and your choices. Brennin on the other hand gave another hands down great performance! Seriously Brennin you never seem to fail with any song and it feels like this had happened again! Good choice for Brennin and below her usual standards from Yuli

What a great performance from you both. Brennin, you have just re-taken your position as the front man of the competition. I truly believe this is your niche, you could be a very good rock star with an acoustic touch to it. Yuli, this was different to what you normally do and I think this was okay from you, not really your best if I have to be honest, I hope you come back stronger.

Don't worry EOS, I haven't forgotten about the show, I have a bit of schoolwork to do but once I get that cleared up, which I'm hoping will be about 8pm, I'll catch up with comments, just a note but the first two duets there weren't songs I picked myself so I hope that my songs will allow the overs to shine more.

Ah, thanks for letting me know Kev. It's just that I've heard "I've forgotten about the show" too many times now for my liking.

Anyway, let's open up the second round of performances with pair number one again. Soppyfan, please introduce the groups + girls pair again!

*Standing Ovation*

Oh wow! That was absolutely spectacular, it was like it was out of this world. Despina, I had a real challenge to find a song that would fit your voice and my girls's voices, I really believe that this was your best performance to date. And to you girls, I feel like we've come a long way since we had Jazz styled songs, but I feel great to be taking risks with you girls. I absolutely loved all of this performance tonight, I wanna see you both back here because you truly deserve it!

Miss fitz and Despina

Girls again another fantastic performance, this suited Miss Fitz softer elements as well as Despina's and gave the girls both a chance to shine tonight with an upbeat power song and a soft ballad for them showcasing both of their vocal talents! Great performance again girls
