Anyone else love batters sprinkled on their chip shop chips? I love it, but the chips have to be orange with loads of salt and vinegar.

I think OP means what in Devon Is "scribblings" and Yorks is "bits"....it means the scraps of batter that come from the fish fryer!

I've only ever had them in Somerset but apparently there are a black country delicacy.

My OH insists on calling them crackling but I can only associate that with pork!

We call them batter Bits, since i like gravy on my chips, they'd go soggy and horrible so no!

I love orange chips. Thank goodness I can only have them when I go back up to the Midlands.

Certainly are. Infact there are more chippies round here doing orange chips than normal chips these days.
