I have to be honest past Elvis Costello and Paul Weller i'm struggling to think of many British songwriters who I would call "great lyricists" in the last 30 years.

Bryan Ferry is one of the finest lyricists this country has ever produced & his last album was in 2010, so yes, people are still writing great lyrics.

Ian Prowse.

No real commercial success, but Costello himself called Prowse a genius, and booked his band amsterdam as support on his tours.

Alex Turner is still putting out good lyrics for me but aside from the obvious merits of Dylan and Morrissey, another old songwriting partnership still coming up with genius lyrics are Ron Mael and Russell Mael of Sparks
