Playbook problem
i love sky
14-09-2012
I bought a Playbook a few days ago and for some reason the back of it there feels like to be a bubble in the middle of the casing.

Also if i press down on the back of it i can see the casing in the middle move.

is this normal for rubber casing for it to do this?

could this be classed as a fault or not?

i got it from PC World so know they may not do anything about it.

Sounds like the rubber back is coming away from the case, not noticed it on mine and a quick search of Google didn't show an obvious history.

you could try to take it back, but unless it's effecting the machine they may not change it. I keep mine in a proper Playbook case anyway

This is a common problem and is widely reported on the Crackberry forum. It's know as a bulging back panel (where it won't lay flat). RIM know about it and will replace it.

It has been fixed with a hair dryer after pressing it down firm with a pen but this could be dangerous so I would just return.

Update: It seems to be down to either a battery issue or overheating.

Is this really an issue?

My kindle keyboard, has been creaking since day one and if I press down on the back it moves. Many sent theirs back and got a replacement. I've kept mine and it hasn't fallen apart and still works after 2 years.

Definitely. It could be a heat issue that is making the case bulge (which could be dangerous).

So is it wise then to take it back to PC world and ask for a new one?

Ive only had it less then 2 weeks so will they do anything or just tell me its normal?

If you find it annoying perhaps print off some of the articles about it and go down to the shop with it.

Just go back and say you want a replacement one - a bulge is not acceptable when bought brand new so don't let them say otherwise
