Taio Cruz - TY O
kezo
14-09-2012
question and wonder if anyone has answers.....

I was on amazon I found album ABOVE dated according to them album is due out New Years eve but if you buy it I believe on import you get it for £6 but there is no download available

Can anyone shed a light on this and has this ever happened before with any artists?

If I am right that the album is available for "import" surely its not going to sell that well in future will it?? ... I am into Taio Cruz (but I admit the recent stuff has been .... meh as everyone is on that "dance" bandwagon)

Thoughts? many thanks

I thought it was released at the start of this year (March/April) don't think this has happened before. Especially not a UK artist releasing material in their own country more than a year after it's release in other countries. (i.e Germany, Japan, Spain, etc.)
To be honest from what I've heard of the album on Youtube, it's sh*t to be polite. He hasn't changed his style or developed at all since his last album and seems to have taken his music back a step.

The Record label must not have much faith in him doing well. It's not out in the US either.

Thats what I remember also I remember Tesco advertising it their magazine for release date of then but was surprised nothing happened

Andrew your free to voice your opinion with me ... I preferred his earlier stuff being honest (where you could download dance remixes etc) but he has done the "dance" scene too much now and needs to go back - I thought it was a move forward in direction with his music but all I got this time round was just dance music that has became more annoying!

Thats a good way for the record label having your back ... have little faith in them and tell them to bring out crap music

I hope he does not get dropped and maybe recovers from the setback?

I still can't believe an album which has had about 4/5 singles from has not been released (properly in UK only available through import) plus I can't see anymore coming from it by end of year or is that what they hope release one more track in time for album?

His earlier stuff was alot better. Everything after 'Dynamite' started to sound the same. His new songs like 'Hangover' & 'There She Goes' just sound like rehashes of 'Dynamite' making them sound dated. He needs to decide on how he's going to progress his sound/style instead of just releasing utter rubbish in the hope it'll be a hit on the basis that it sounds like a hit he had what? 2/3 years ago now. It's become more annoying because we've heard it all before imo. Would love for him to go back to his more R&B sound that he had on his first album.

The problem is that none of those singles have done well in the UK and they haven't even charted in the US. I can kind of see why the label not bothering. He needs to go away, and try and recreate the sound of his Break Your Heart and Dynamite glory days.

You're right. Movin On was the best song he's ever done in my opinion.

I think the major problem is possibly he is that concentrated for breaking the US than the UK (could be wrong) but makes me think is this another possiblity for the hold back that long

Being honest I liked Dynamite and Break Your Heart (recently) but after these its just dance non stop ... ok he did have the track to "Rio" "telling the world" - I liked that and grew on me and yet what happened when it charted it dropped quick ....

I couldn't AGREE more with what you said above ... I have been feeling that way since the constant dance tracks ... I agree also it has become annoying but then again look at the state of music at the minute you got nearly all "rnb and rap" artists doing dance .... I just find it now that its ruined dance and ruined rnb/rap at the moment hopefully these artists WILL move off from it!!

why was it released in Europe FIRST than UK I don't understand that logic .... plus it comes across (no offence) as if your giving the album a "test run" in Europe before UK/US .... pretty odd setup in my opinion (thanks fanfromholland for info)

I think you are right tbh, Europe was a test run. Also in Europe Hangover and Troublemaker were pretty huge. So it was a logical step to release it

As for the UK Taio hasn;t set the chart alight with his singles, they dropped like stones. So if they did release the album, it'd be a huge flop.

As for the US Hangover got to #62 and it stopped there so releasing it would lead to it well.. not charting.

The album flopped in Europe anyway so I guess it didn;t make a difference

Maybe they are recording new songs for it so they can release a UK/US package?

quite possible but then why have say Tesco "advertise" it expecting it to be released in March (ok I know dates change) but in a way it looks like as if UK fans have missed out big time. I can understand lets say it flopped THEN and was re-released with new songs in time for new year (in theory) .... I am being honest but I was looking forward to the album back then but now plus feedback from one forum member so far ... feel like avoiding this album now and wait on the next.

I think his record label have made a big mistake (or management or both) big time unless as you said have new songs ready for album then but putting extra songs on it is not going to improve sales I don't think and if it will be songs similar to what has been released I can see it being a flop then!

Regarding the "test run" of album .... surprised that 2 songs were massive in Europe just checking wikipedia according to them

"hangover" charted UK #27 (released Germany 4 Oct 2011 and UK was 4 Mar 2012) Germany charted #2

"troublemaker" (i'll switch it around) released Germany Dec 9 2011 UK release Jan 1 2012
charted UK #3 Germany #6

yet if you look at troublemaker it charted higher in UK compared to Germany (just an example) ... so out of 2 songs they go with Europe to release ... something has gone wrong thats for sure! .... could it be most songs are "dance" and people are finally clicking onto it and getting bored of it now?
