So, we now have the new Apple ranges of iPhone and iPod out. This has got me thinking - does the new range suggest an iPad Mini is on the way?

Looking at the new line from: iPod Nano > iPod Touch > iPhone > iPad - is it only me or does it seem like there is something missing between the iPhone and the iPad?!

What does everyone else think?

There have been rumours and speculation about an iPad mini for ages. While i agree that there is room in the line-up for an iPad mini just looking at the pricing of the new iPod Touch range suggests that when one comes it'll be priced over £300, making it extremely uncompetitive with the Nexus 7.

Probably around november in time for xmas, I would expect price to be at least £250.

The product range does not suggest anything as it's still the same range as last year! Just different updated models!

Of course any new iPads be they mini or full size iPad will use the new screen ratio 16:9, which will make the big iPad even bigger, possibly giving more scope for a mini, with a ruler and a bit of maths it should be possible to work out likely sizes for any future products.

I'd imagine it'll be £249; the Apple website had pricing on the iPads 'from' that price when it came back up after the iPhone 5 announcement. I think they were jumping the gun a bit . the rumoured event for it will take place some time next month, apparently.

The moment an iPad mini comes on the market Samsung will immediately strike back and sue Apple for $2,000,000,00 (at least ) just because it will be very similar to any of the Galaxy Tab tablets. I am really getting bored of these tablet wars, which is causing the slow improvement of tablets, most new smartphones have higher specs than the current best selling tablets, and even using the same useless operating systems. Powerful tablets like Samsung series 7 slate will have to wait few more years to become popular and more affordable, until than iPads and Galaxy Tabs will rule the market.

will they? It's a better form factor IMHO, but I'm not sure they're going to want black bars on their newest ipad as well as their newest phone...

There will be an iPad mini but it won't be under £299 there is no need to sell it cheap because it will sell no matter what the price is.

The new iPod touch is £250 so there is no way the iPad mini will be cheaper than that.
