With Brendan, they've been the only professionals to be in it from the first series, it must be doing wonders for their professional partnership marketing. Anton is the most recognisable professional anyway.

Absoloutley. However I think they could be given a shot at least one year. I know they have had good in the past but others seem to have good all the time

I agree and as usual I love myself Brendan gets the prize

I was thrilled that Anton got Jerry, I was really convinced that he would get Fern or Lisa

I was pleased too, for Anton. Jerry hall seems fit, she's not dim and she's had years of awareness of posing and moving for her modelling work. My guess is, that she won't be another Nancy !

Anton has a partner unlikely to win but at least she's not the ' joke' celeb. That was getting tiresome !

I guessed the pair and wants them to go further than Anton has got previously

I thought he would get Fern or Lisa. But having said that Jerry didn't look too clever but he does manage to work on their strengths and although Jerry does tend to ridicule herself she may do ok for a while

Agreed.

I like her response to Tess when she asked her who's wearing the trousers. She said she'll expect Anton to lead, but if not...

I love Jerry already. I liked how she purred "I like the man to lead but if not we'll see ... "

Aw - you just spoilt this warm & fluffy thread.

Am i missing something here? Poor Anton gets such a drubbing from some quarters, and I just don't get it, he strikes me as being a really nice, cheerful sort and a lovely dancer.
Folk go on about his Latin, yet I can't see anything particularly bad about it. His ballroom is sublime, but I love watching him dance, whatever it might be.

I must admit that was quite funny.

Well said. I like Anton too and can't see why he's slated by some.

Did you see in the pro group dance when he tried to lift Erin? It was a sight to behold, and not in a nice way.

I was convinced he would be landed with Lisa. I think Jerry has style and wit, which is more than could be said for Nancy. Back in the day, many a man would have dreamed to be dancing with Jerry.

It's really not about the professionals and its nothing personal - pairings are not about giving [insert name of pro] a chance because it's their "turn to win" and they "deserve a contender."

Ooh - so Anton did a dodgy lift! Well that explains all the aggro he gets then.
From various observations about tonight's show, from other posters, it's apparent that I missed quite a few things! I shall watch it all again and look out for the lift.

Yes, I saw that, he looked like an old, old man! Also Darcey seemed to have an iffy moment or two in her routine with Ian.

I love Anton and hate the slating he gets on here.

He is a lovely bloke, a total gentleman.

I can't comment on technique but his Latin looks a bit old-fashioned and naff.

Even with Laila, he couldn't resist incorporating lots of cheesy disco moves into the Samba. They gave up altogether on the Jive, and the Salsa was a mess.

Of course Laila has to take some responsibility here, but if her Ballroom was so good then it made me wonder if Anton just couldn't be bothered teaching her the Latin properly.

Only the Paso & surprisingly the Rhumba (what we saw of it) looked any good. The party-type dances were awful.

I hope he'll at least take the Ballroom seriously with Jerry so she can show off her long, elegant frame. But I expect lots of gimmicks in the Latin. That stuff was fine with Ann and Kate but it didn't suit Nancy and it won't work with someone like Jerry. She's too cool for that (and him).
