Okay, Lisa. You've said it once (as expected). Don't say it every week.

Is she sure all the chubbers out there want her representing them?

She has been to theatre school and must have had some kind of dance training. Why is no one going on about her dance experience?

Is it because she is fat?

To be honest, she's doing herself no favours with such quotes already.

She could actually be a great dancer, regardless of her weight.

Unfortunately, because she herself will be doing it, I can see her being the one people say "I thought that was lovely..... considering her weight". People will end up thinking how her dancing was for somebody of her size, rather than just thinking of how good her dancing was.

It's like when the older celebs do it for "Older people". Why not just do it, as a celebrity, like everyone else?

I think viewers are more likely to vote if they feel you're just doing it for yourself and having fun doing it, then trying to hard because you feel you should represent a percentage of the viewers.

Why not say that? The other contestants will be making best use of their fan base via twitter etc, so why not enlist the help of all the "fatties" to get a few extra votes. She actually looked OK (dancing wise) last night, so it will be interesting to watch her. Not sure about the jive though - that could be challenging!

She's doing it for the publicity and the hope of future work and the money. And that applies to most of them.

Well, whatever she says now, if she dances well and stays in, the weight will fall off her because of the training. She'll change her tune!

Disgusting really. Trying to promote being fat and acting as if it's okay is possibly the most annoying trait on tv ever. Now she'll get lots of comments on her weight and she only has herself to blame for drawing attention to it.

Whatever reason she is doing it for good luck to her, I like Lisa always comes across as a " nice" person. I do hope she gets a better bra though before she starts the competition proper

She'll get lots of comments on her weight regardless of whether she mentions it or not.

I'm sure most people reading the cast list will have thought 'Lisa Riley? She's a bit fat to be dancing'.

The dancing will definitely be good for her.

No one is too fat to be dancing. Ever.

Some people, however, may be too fat to compete in a dance competition which relies on energetic choreographed routines.

Same with age - no one is too old to be dancing, but some (e.g. Ball) may be too old to compete in Strictly.

And as for the comment, I thought it was silly and patronising. If Colin had said "I'm doing it for the n&&"£$%s out there", would that be acceptable?

BiBAh yes, I'd forgotten how 'vile' the sin of fatness is in some people's eyes.

As to mentioning it - it's the first port of call of the embarrassed - to make fun of ourselves before others do.

I prefer this to the self-esteem building journey of self discovery which is the alternate narrative for the larger lady on this show.

I think she she said it as a throwaway comment she knows that people are going to talking about her weight so she bright it up first, I quite like her, and she doesn't seem to want to use the show to lose weight. It was more like she was saying 'I'm big bit I'm gonna dance anyway'.

She's doing it in the hopes she will become a less fat person first and foremost I would imagine.

It reminded me of Big Brother's Josie Gibson and her line about "doing it for the big girls".

Yes, I agree. And good luck to her. She's as much right to be there as anybody else and if it brings in some new work for her, well that's what they're all there for isn't it?

Fat people can dance, one only has to watch 'Hairspray' the show or movie to know this, I am sure they don't need Lisa to point this out to them.

As soon as she starts losing weight due to the exercise and less time for snacking, she will be thrilled to no longer be classed as a fatty. It will be part of her story line now she is making a song and dance about it.

I believe the correct term is ample, I'm not sure we can use the 'F' word anymore.
