Ample, chubby, rubenesque, portly.......I don't know it's had to keep with what fat people like to be called these days.

Curvy works for most.

Hey, Enidan, how did you chalk up so many posts so quickly?! I thought I was chatty...

Look at Russell last year. He also made a point about his weight but still everyone seemed to love him.

There is nothing wrong with the use of the word 'fat' unless it's used in an abusive way.

Lisa appeared in a TV series called "Fat Friends" so she obviously does not object to the word. "Ample Friends" would have been just silly.

Rubenesque sounds quite nice.

Dedication to a cause.

Edit: Which translates to arguing on the Big Brother forum.

She's saying it because that's what she's been told to do. SCD is scripted, just like every other reality show (Jery Hall's comments last night were just a little too quick out of her mouth ...) and Lisa will have a 'role' to play, with 'lines' to say.

What will be interesting is what effect the training will have on her weight - because I can't believe it won't.

I'm sure most people reading the cast list will have thought 'Lisa Riley? She's a bit fat to be dancing'.”

Yeah most people have probably thought it, but would there have been a thread made on it? Unlikely.

As to mentioning it - it's the first port of call of the embarrassed - to make fun of ourselves before others do.”

She's most likely insecure about her weight and she feels that she needs to defend it by bringing it up and is in denial about how comfortable she is with it.

I'm sure it must have an effect.

Because no-one would have noticed if she hadn't said something first.

Fat people I imagine don't like to be called fat because they have names.

Not really the point, obviously everybody would notice as she's on tv doing dancing...I just doubt such an issue would've been made from people if she hadn't made it relevant.

She seems a lovely girl but she won't go far. Even if she is a good dancer she could not do all the moves and produce elegant lines and produce a thing of beauty, it's a fact, sorry.

I hope so too. It's very nice to see Lisa back on the TV. She is always cheerful and a good actress. She doesn't always bang on about her weight either.

It would of course become monotonous if Lisa referred to chubbers every week - but so far she's only used the phrase once, so let's wait and see before taking her to task over it.

How long have the celebrities known of their participation in SCD, Practising daily requires a lot of stamina and I'm surprised that she doesn't appear to addressed her size as she is clearly considerably overweight.

I have a feeling that its going to become her catch phrase.

Russell had already lost a lot of weight before embarking on Strictly.

He approached the competition in earnest, worked hard and was turning into a decent dancer until his injury - after which he and Flav did play it for laughs. However even in some of the most extreme routines one could still see that underneath the joker was a dancer trying to get out.

I think it was Craig who commented on his lightness of foot.

Is it not okay to be fat then? Or does this only apply to TV?
