Well that's my thought also. I doubt she really wants to represent chubby people and prob just made the remark about her weight (if that's a direct quote from her) before someone else brought up.

Being fat doesn't stop you being a great elegent graceful dancer. My first dance teacher was fat and she danced beautifully.

I do hope it doesnt become her catchphrase. I agree with people who've said she probably said it before others did.

I have a feeling its not the last time we will hear it.

Of course it's up to the person themselves, it's pretty careless for someone to let themselves get fat though.

Careless old metabolism / hormone / gland disorder etc. That's before you get to the deep unhappiness and mental trouble that leads people to their various addictions. And then, on the lower slopes, there's cream cakes, chocolate, beer, beer, beer, cupcakes, beer and homemade bread with too much butter. It's a shame we can't just ask 'What kind of fatty are you?'

Yep, I'm making a placard: Down with the ill, the different, the old, the unhappy, the epicures etc.

Even if she gets to the final, she surely could'nt lose enough weight in 12 weeks to get a DVD out of it. However, if she could remain focussed through the tricky Christmas period and continue her dance fitness regime beyond the notorious Easter week, then a summer release can be predicted. Suggesed titles could include -

1. MANDY minus the CANDY
2. The Chubbers Guide to No Galaxy
3. The Out of Work - Workout
4. The Emmerdole Plan

If she'd just got on with it and not mentioned her size, she would'nt have given imbeciles like me, the oppotunity to scrawl posts like this.

What about those who gain the weight to self-esteem issues and depression? Is that careless?

That's a fairly naive view.

If both parents anf grandparents are big, you're unlikely to be a thin person that's for sure.

Is it because she is fat?”

More likely it's because it isn't widely known that Lisa went to theatre school. I didn't know and I suspect many others don't, either.

I suspect, also, that unlike Denise Van Outen, Lisa hasn't done any dancing in a professional capacity as an adult. Denise's work in West End musicals is what has got people discussing whether she should be in Strictly or not. If Lisa had similar dance experience, which was widely known about, I dare say people would be talking about it.

Chubbers united could take over the world, just a wall of fat. The slim ones know this, that's why they keep the prejudice alive. Divide and conquer.

Agree with that, it's like a defense mechanism because of how parts of society currently thinks of larger people. I hope she does well, I really like her.

Do you remember The Roly Poly's? Especially Mo who often took center stage, she was as light as a feather on her feet and much larger than lovely Lisa.

You forgot to mention being big boned. That's a good reason used by some.

I did mention that some people just have bigger bones, but I'm not sure what the correct term is though.
