the launch show ratings

The x factor has edged out strictly's launch show last night. Strictly gained an average audience of 8 million between 6.30 to 7.35pm for its launch show. It managed to peak with an audience of 9.8 million. This is its highest ever peak figure for its pre recorded launch programme. Meanwhile over on itv the x factor had an average 8.6 million and it peaked at 9.5 million. This is an increase of around a million viewers from last saturday. With itv plus one figures included, the x factor audience actually recorded a rise to an average of 9 million viewers and its peak grew to massive 10 million as viewers then caught up on the show later. The executive producer of strictly told radio one this week that he is unconcerned by ratings as there are so many ways to watch the show nowadays with I player etc.

Strictly Come Dancing - 8m (9.8m peak)
The X Factor - 8.6m (9.5m peak)

Only a 600k gap between the two even though SCD hasn't properly kicked off yet. To have a higher peak as well says it all. SCD usually adds around 1m for the first proper live show in October, so it's safe to say that SCD will comfortably beat XF this year.

I do think it's funny how the ITV PR people are now having to add the +1 repeat in to the ratings to inflate the figures.

Launch show usually gets low ratings so I think ITV will be worried when the show launches fully in 3 weeks time, That and 9.8m is great for 6:30pm timeslot. If it was a hour later it could get more

I just browsed the old news articles and last years Launch Show apparently got 7.6million. So it's already an improvement on Last year.

I hope the main show gets decent ratings. <3

Let's hope so, it looks promising so far.

Fingers crossed the BBC don't sacrifice Strictly by putting it on at some stupid time early in the evening.

Strictly got brilliant ratings considering it was just the preview show.

I am a first time watcher and I loved it. I don't know what the time slot will be down the line, but I really hope it doesn't clash with XF, which is also massively popular and getting great ratings. I now enjoy both shows for different reasons.
