I've just heard a new Lana Del Rey song called 'Damn You' and its one of the best songs I have ever heard. This woman is serious TALENT. She blows the likes of Katy Perry and Rihanna out of the water.

If Lana keeps progressing as an artist like this she is going to be a MASSIVE star in a few years time.

I love her! Seriously great & If she got over her nerves she'd be a great live act heard rumours that this could be her only album cos she wants to do film

Yes she probably is. The only problem is her stagefright, which hinders her live performances, not to mention the vocal multi-layering that she does in her recordings, which she can't replicate live. It often makes her sound a bit inferior whist performing. HOWEVER when I see her at iTunes we may find that she's suddenly found her niche when performing live

Love the albums and the videos, but oh dear when live it can all go so very very very bad.

Not the most talented in terms of singing or dancing.. But that's wholly irrelevant when you consider the quality of her album. Isn't the repackage out in November? Not surprised she's moving into film tbh.

Definitely, she's the most genuine I'd say, her vision seems so unique

Quote David Lynch:
"Lana Del Rey, she's got some fantastic charisma and – this is a very interesting thing – it's like she's born out of another time," said Lynch. "She's got something that's very appealing to people. And I didn't know she was influenced by me!"

Without a doubt yes

I love her so much

She may not have the voice of Adele but vocally, she is unique and special
She may not have the stage presence of Madonna but who cares, her lyrics tell a story

She is an incredible songwriter, perhaps one of the best in years. Her songwriting reminds me a little of Kate Bush's, who without a doubt is an amazing songwriter herself.

No but I've heard enough of her to know I wouldn't like it.

Been saying it for quite a while on here (and got the odd derogatory comment lol) - Lana is a major new talent and one of the best new songwriters to emerge for years. All imo of course. The album is golden but even more exciting is when your listen to the plethora of amazing songs she doesn't even deem worthy of releasing. Then you realise this lady is something special.

To the OP - Damn You is just the sort of song I'm talking about. it doesn't seem like she will be releasing it but how many established artists would give their right arm to write a song as good as that?? thing is, this sort of quality Lana song appears to get leaked every week or so. Quite incredible how many amazing songs Lana has written.

PS LOVE the quote from David Lynch. I bet Lana will be thrilled to read that!

Off To The Races, National Anthem etc disagree. "Pure shite" does not sell in the millions WW and gather a strong fanbase.

No it isn't. Born to Die, Off to the Races, Video Games, National Anthem and Radio are all very good songs in my opinion. Admittedly I find that the album loses some of its impact half of the way through but it's incorrect to say the rest is shite.

I think she's one of the most interesting and talented songwriters to impact on mainstream music in quite a few years, though it is a shame about the majority of her live performances. I've always felt that her music and imagery come out much better in the form of music videos and artwork, as opposed to concerts and live performances. I suppose the cinematic feel of the music and the depth of the production is quite difficult to re-create live, certainly outside of smaller, more intimate gigs.

I cannot believe Damn You is not going to be on Paradise! WTF!!!!!!!

Unless she is holding it back for the next album. Its going to be a big shame if it never gets heard by the masses. It deserves to be so much more than a demo, but then you could say that about the 200 odd tracks that have also leaked. Lana is very good at what she does and I don't think she has even started yet. The best is still to come. Everything about her is unique. She has the voice, amazing writing skills with stories to tell, is a brilliant actress and has old school Hollywood beauty. She was born to be a star. These sort of artists only come once in a blue moon. Its also much better for Lana to have a slow start to her career. Slow burns are better. This way she can became established more naturally.

Another absolutely amazing song that doesn't seem like it will ever be officially released. Seriously, she could make a fortune if she released a double/triple/quadruple/quintuple album with all these unreleased songs on it.

Yes! I'm an avid member of #TeamLana and I just love her! She is more talented than Rihanna, Katy, Britney etc... And I'm fans of those artists. And for you guys that say she can't sing live, well that's just bullshit. Have you seen her Warsaw performance?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s-_pZq6YNLY
She only gets stage fright when she sings on TV shows that are being televised, live gigs she has no problems.
And she's not depressing! She just expresses her true feeling & emotion through song, and yes the majority of that is sadness, but she's had quite a tragic life if you investigate (Alcoholic at 14, meth & cocaine addict)
But she also has uptempo songs too. YouTube She's Not Me, Daddy Issues, Lolita, Put The Radio On, Come When You Call Me, Driving In Cars, GoGo dancer, Hundred Dollar Bill, Kinda Outta Luck, Paris, Puppy Love just to name a few.... PURE TALENT!
