I dont consider him a mitchell really. He doesnt act the same as phil so its not like hes important to the mitchell empire.

The thing is with Billy is that while Perry is afantastic actor, there is not much more material they can give to the character that they have not dealt with previously.
They really should not have killed off his son, paired up with the right actor Billy could of had an excellent relationship with this man. Instead we ended up with Lola. |

His s/ls have never relied on him being a Mitchell. His relationship with Janine, marriage to little Mo, marriage to Honey and the birth of Janet. His friendship with Jay and his 'adopting' him with the subsequent ups and downs of their relationship. Now we have Lola who could turn out to be a good character. Billy has done more than just pad out the Mitchells.

When I think of Mitchells, I don't really think of Billy.I think they keep him on as a valuable background character, who can hold his own acting .

I disagree -I think EE needs these background characters so that it's not all big showdowns and reveals, etc.. yet when Billy is given his big storylines, then Perry really does show us what he can do and shines.. proven when he was given the live part of the Olympic episode.

I never really understood why Honey left him - or, at least, why she didn't ask him to go with her to her dad's boat when they had nowhere else to live. I miss Honey and the kids.

He never has any interaction with the Mitchell family anyway!
Lola Pearce has been the re-making of him. |

I'm indifferent to Billy. I think Perry Fenwick is a great actor, but he's been a little underused and hasn't been given many good storylines over the last few years. I don't think he's deadwood just yet though, I think he's got a few years left in him. I don't think Billy being a Mitchell has anything to do with why he's been on EE so long.
I really like Lola, she's really got potential. Danielle Harold was excellent during the Olympic Torch episode when she gave birth to Lexi and I hope they do more with her. I'm glad she hasn't been heavily involved with Lucy, Lauren, Fatboy and all of them, and she's been involved with Billy more because I love their relationship. I just hope they don't turn her into another Stacey Slater though. Stacey was good but Lola's different and perhaps a little softer. |

Perhaps I'm alone in liking Billy, and not thinking he should be axed. Alright, he's not my absolute favourite character, but I would be sad to see him go.

I've never gotten this obsession some people seem to have with Billy being axed. Soaps need peripheral characters like Billy who are long-standing and recognisable; who aren't constantly at the front of the show but are always there to deliver sturdy supporting roles when they're called upon; and provide a sense of history and continuity with their presence when they're not. If every single character had huge explosive storylines every five minutes you'd never be able to fit it all in. |

I like the character of Billy (and Lola) and do not want him axed.
I doubt it's because of the 'Mitchell' name that he hasn't been axed yet. He is hardly ever portrayed as being part of the Mitchell clan. He's been kept because he plays a great secondary character role, and steps up to the forefront when necessary. |

I like Billy and I like Perry, there are certainly a lot more characters who deserve to be axed first. However I do wish they could show us another side to Billy, something we've not seen before. The other top male players, Phil, Ian and Max have so many layers too them whereas all Billy is, is a loser. I'd like to see a bit more variety with his character
Billy and Denise are the two characters rarely used for big storylines but the actors are great! Give Kat/Derek/Alfie/Tanya/Max etc a break and lets see more of the background characters. They're more likeable |

Billly's not one of my fav characters, but I quite like him. At least he has family values unlike his bully cousin Phil. He should be given bigger story lines rather than being used as the joke factor because he is a good caring man with genuine intentions and always does his best. He isn't that much of a loser as portrayed, he has more qualities than numerous other characters.

I can't believe he was introduced as an alcoholic beating uncle.
