I personally don't think the character of Michelle has recovered since the Ryan/Alex storyline...the way she has never referred to it since it happened doesn't make her a believable character and she's hard to take seriously now. Same goes for Ryan, with all this current drama for these two characters, it's ridiculous how the baby- swap thingy has never been referred to.

The most ridiculous aspect of the pair is that Ryan looks like he's in his mid or late 20s and Michelle looks like she's mid 30s.

This. They look like partners. Why on earth when casting for a new Ryan would you pick someone who looks so old knowing Michelle is quite young looking

I certainly can't take them seriously for this reason and the baby swap thing never mentioned again as the OP says and the fact that Michelle barely mentioned or saw him at all when he was at University but now he's home she mothers him like he's 4

No I cannot take them remotely seriously.

The producers have cocked up here. The solution is to make Ryan die from a drug overdose then Michelle meets a new man and has a baby. At least this will be hers with no crazy baby swaps.

Believe it or not there are people who look older than they actually are in the real world. I don't get the problem and at the end of the day its only a TV show.

Ryan was only off-screen for just under 2 years and when he left he was so boyish looking. There's no way he would look so old now and this new guy has a totally different physique. Even if you trained hard at the gym you don't change your whole body shape you just become a more muscular version of what you were. The old Ryan was taller, slimmer.

People complain about the EE recasts but at least those characters came back looking the right age.

Corrie seem to do this a lot with recasts we also had Nick Tilsley going from spotty teenager > to hunk > to plain-looking 40 year old all in the space of a few years.

I don't like Michelle. At all.

I didn't hear many people complain when the dark, slim Pierce Brosnan morphed into the honed, blond Daniel Craig. But perhaps cinema audiences are more sophisticated when it comes to recasts...?

Or perhaps they subscribe to the 'codeword theory' of James Bond.......

You cannot compare the James Bond movies to a continuing drama which is meant to be rooted in at least some form of reality.
