It's more than just that, it won't turn back on using the normal method and won't register the charger being plugged in.

Turning off, sleep of death, I don't care what name it's called.

You have to hold the power switch down for about 30 seconds, basically until it comes back on. My galaxy tab has done this a few times. At first I thought that it wouldn't come back on because I was only holding the power switch for a few seconds. I tried plugging it into the charger, connecting it to the computer and it did nothing. If you hold it for as long as it takes it will then come back on. That's just part of android I guess. It doesn't bother me because it doesn't happen frequently.

Are carphone warehouse selling the 32gb at an exclusive price? Think I remembered reading it somewhere on this forum.

I heard they were selling it at £189. Website says £195 so it still saving £4 on the Play price.

Is it now possible to use the BBC iPlayer and the newer (I think) BBC Radio app on the Nexus 7? I believe there was a problem in the past with iPlayer as the Nexus didn't have Flash.
Many thanks.

As far as I know there isn't a peripheral that allows you to put your thoughts directly onto the Nexus 7.

yup for BBC iPlayer, no need for sideloading Flash any more; Nexus 7/jelly bean officially supported.

BBC Radio app not out on Android yet, according to the Beeb,
"Android to follow soon"

http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/lat...yer-radio.html

The BBC are no longer relying on Flash for their Android apps, so future stuff should work fine on Nexus 7/Jellybean

Give Google Now a couple of years and it might

Been noticing 4.2 is really nice on the Nexus 7. Love how you can swipe down from the clock (top right) and access toggles and brightness etc. and also switch to other users. Plus you can swipe left/right between different stock widgets on your lock screen.

Even if you don't need multiple user profiles. It's handy to make a clean user with no live wallpaper or widgets etc. which you can switch to if you want to extend your battery life when necessary.

I'll probably do some sort of 'guest' account login thing to let people have a play without worrying they'll move stuff around or read something they, er, shouldn't!

My Nexus 7 is telling me a system update is ready. 4.2 here I come. (so much for going to bed!)

A few new things to get used to. You have to install apps for each user. Even if using the same gmail account, you need to go to Play store. It doesn't download if app already on the tablet, just initialises it for the profile.

You can have more than one user per gmail account? Perfect. was expecting to have to register paulbrocksguestaccount@gmail.com

Yeah you can have more then one user with the same gmail account. Apparently you can have purely local accounts too -but not tried that yet.

Noticing the tablet gets sluggish with more then 2 users. But it may be due to apps not behaving until updates are available.

I see we have a swype style keyboard now. And I've got a free copy of the Ice Age movie from somewhere.

Still transformers for me. Yep to multi account sluggishness. Was the handy "press this button to see your apps" tutorial always there?
Shame there seems to be no way of customising the quick settings, airplane mode and battery link seem unnecessary.

4.2 has been fully released for the N7 now.

If your update hasn't come through.

Go into airplane mode
In 'all apps' find Google Services Framework app, force close and clear data.
Get out of airplane mode
Check for software updates. It should say last checked 1970.

If it doesn't work turn the N7 off and repeat the above until the update comes through. Mine took 4/5 attempts.

Alternatively, you could just incant the mantra "Android 4.2" while standing on one leg, until the same result is achieved.

do people have 'what's this song' widget available? (Google version of Shazam - can't find it anywhere?)

It's US only. It was introduced in 4.1 and it can be enabled in other regions but only if you are rooted.

There are a few threads on XDA about it. I don't know if the lock screen widget can be enabled though, and I would imagine no-one has tried that yet.
