One of the most underrated UK girl groups ever....
..has to be The 411 without a doubt.
(On My Knees) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p_QgvClNcN8 (Dumb) http://vimeo.com/28252598 (Teardrops) http://vimeo.com/3909905 The 411 were fabulous! They had an edge to them that I really liked and were different to Girls Aloud and Sugababes at the time in that they were more urban and gritty, so I felt there was definitely a place for them. On My Knees and Dumb were top 5 hits, but then Teardrops failed to crack the top 20, the album bombed and they were suddenly dropped from their label On My Knees debuted in May 2004 and they were dropped by November of that year....they were hardly given a chance! There was just so much potential there that went to waste ![]() Any other old fans of The 411 here? |

I liked The 411, their album was really good! China Girl shouldve been a single.
Mini Viva, Ruff Diamondz and Girls Can't Catch were underrated too. None of them shouldve split. |

Yeah The 411 were great. I think they had issues within the group didn't they. Shame they split up though - teardrops was and remains a great tune.
Here's a treat. These girls were awesome In the days of myspace, but never really took off. ![]() http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rOYwgCGnQ3I |

yes, Teardrops is so good. The lyrics are deliciously bitter and the video is great too. I forgot just how risqué it is with Tisha getting her baps out at the end

I liked Dumb and On My Knees, but I don't know how much bigger they would have been if they'd carried on. They weren't given much of a chance though, to be fair.

Not too many girl groups have managed to score consecutive top 5 hits with their first two releases which makes their label even more crazy for dropping them like they did.
The album should have been released around the time of Dumb and it would have probably gone top 10. It was a mistake releasing three singles before the album finally came out. |

They were very good. It's a shame they didn't last longer.
