Pinks 'The truth about love', is a MAJOUR let down IMO
I know there's a lot of love for pink on this site and don't get me wrong, I am a massive pink fan, funhouse will always be one of my favorate albums of all time.
But I have to admitt, I'm really dissapointed with her new album. I can't put my finger on it. I was expecting more personality. Anyone else not guna jump on the band wagon and agree with me? |

Well, I'm not "jumping on the bangwagon" as you say, because I wholeheartedly disagree with you. I love more or less every single song on the album (the 2/3 that I am currently unsure of will probably grow on me in time). Her vocals are flawless and the songs are catchy/meaningful as ever. She has worked very hard, and I think it shows on the album.
If I didn't like it, I would tell the truth. But I am very impressed --- well worth the wait IMO. |

Ten songs are strangely greyed out on Spotify which is annoying.

I'm loving the album. There are like 3 songs I'm not fond of but I find that with every one of her albums. There are always 2 that I skip. The rest I listen to happily. So glad to have her back

I agree, there are a few catchy tracks but I haven't really managed to get into the album yet. I was the same with Funhouse. Neither top I'm Not Dead for me.

I agree with you. To be honest Pink is my favourite artist, so I was really looking forward to her album but when I heard some of the song clips I was a bit unsure about the sound of some of them. However, when I heard the full songs I loved almost all of them. All of the things I love about a Pink album are on there; personal, heartfelt songs; a sense of humour; amazing vocals; a variety of upbeat and slow songs etc. Funhouse is my favourite Pink album and The Truth About Love has a very different sound, whilst still being very 'Pink' imo. Also, just because lots of people like a popular artist's album doesn't mean they are jumping on the bandwagon!

I have to agree. It's P!nk-by-numbers and while at first that may not seem like much of a problem because P!nk is only ever known for being balls-out amazing, from what I've heard it's just not as good as 'Funhouse' or 'I'm Not Dead'. The collaborations aren't as stellar as their credits suggest either.

Totally agree with all you've said! Pink's been my fave artist for sometime now, been lucky enough to see her in concert 4 times & roll on the next! And i was sooo excited when i heard when she'd be realising a new album in september & have been waiting for today ever since, i have always thought the day Pink comes out with a song/album i don't like there will be something dodgy going on haha, however like you, when i heard the snippets of a few songs sometime last week i was abit unsure as to whether i would love this album. However now listening through it all, once again i think its an amazing album, so diverse & typically pink. I think shes one of very few artist i'l listen too albums & sometimes seriously laugh out loud to some lyrics, she always just nails it! & i love how its so personal & heartfelt like she's letting the world into her life yet without whoring herself for tv & press, & some of the songs i think to myself, wow i wonder what was Carey's reaction was when he heard it, as some of them are so touching, yet that's Pink & one of the reason i love her & then there are mad fun songs like "slut like you" & "how come your not here" which are in a way so random but so catchy & i can't wait to be bouncing around some arena when she plays them live, cause as Pink has always said, she's a touring artist & she does it amazingly well, so roll on that!

Although I do like her music a lot, I just can't get into her as an artist because it all sounds very same-y to me. The few songs I've heard from the new album would've fitted perfectly on the last album... there just isn't any kind of development in her sound, and her lyrics are always following the same template and ideas.

It seems no one does "copy and paste" better than Pink but her fanbase don't mind that. She has the odd nice song now and again but on the whole, she is singing the same thing over and over and over again. Kelly Clarkson is in a similar position, but I think she is still more versatile than Pink. |

There are some fantastic songs on the album. Just Give Me a Reason and Try are clear standouts for me. However, I agree that I am slightly let down with some of the songs. They sound very samey.
One thing I've always loved about Pink is how honest her songs come across and how she can sound strong and vulnerable within the same song. But I don't feel that with this album. There's nothing that comes close to "Sober", "I Don't Believe You" or "Please Don't Leave Me". With that said, I've realised some of the better songs are on the deluxe edition ("Is This Thing On?" and "Run" are both great) |

I think this is the closest she's come to 'selling out' on an album since her debut Can't Take Me Home. I understand that she's grown up from the rebellious hurt teen but that was the artist I loved and this album seems very much too 'pop' for Pink. It reminds me of Avril Lavigne circa 'Girlfriend' - keeping her own signature sound but slipping in a bit of mass market appeal. Probably my least favourite Pink album of the moment. I'm not buying it until I listen to it a bit more online.
Having said that, 'Try' is an ace single and song and I'd love to see it go #1 here or stateside. I think it's the closest to an 'old Pink' song that there is on the album. But I've always liked Pink as a not-quite-pop artist rather than as a pop artist, which is why this album doesnt do so much for me I think. |
