Center channel on the Aego M2.1
So I've had the Aego M2.1 sub and sat speaker set since early this year. It's hooked up to my TV through the 3.5mm headphone jack and does the job remarkably well.
I got the additional third speaker hooked up by bell wire, but the yellow center speaker channel output on the back of the sub remains unoccupied. Listening you can tell that the sound isn't seperated across the three speakers, and depending on the film, game or TV show, the dialogue can take a back seat. Can someone with the same system tell me what cable I need to make use of this third output. I want to retain control of the TV volume through the TV remote, do I need the headphone cable to retain such operation? Please help! I just want to beef up the center sound. |

From what I can see from the back of the sub you have connected it up correctly, the phono connections (yellow/red/white) are for connecting to a PC.
It doesn't look like the system allows adjustment for channel levels, especially when connected to a TV, so there's not a lot you can do about the center channel. If the sound from the center is that bad then going back to a stereo pair might be the only option. |

You can't do it mate, certainly not with a TV. You need something like a Blu-ray or DVD player which has phono/RCA analogue surround outputs for each speaker or a PC soundcard to use it as a proper 3.1 system.
I don't know why you'd want to add a centre speaker tbh, as the Aego M is an awesome little system as it is. I purchased mine in 2006, though it hasn't been in use for three years now and the volume knob has gone a bit scratchy (don't want to part with the system as it's so good), it's expensive, but the richness of sound and volume output is quite incredible for such small speakers - true hi-fi sound and makes you realise how inferior the Logitech and Creative sets are.

I love the Aego, but with output on TV/films it can still.be quite diminished in replicating dialogue. I guess I need a proper surround system, eh? :-(
