No, it was in the afternoon so the box had been on for quite a few hours. However, as I mentioned above, I've just looked at the EPG again today after getting in from work and it seems to be fully populated. Hopefully it will stay like that but going by the posts above, I wouldn't count on it.

Hi there, Just to add that my PVR 9300T has developed the same problem since the digital retune on 19th Sep. I have reset the unit to original settings about 5 times but to no avail. Today and up to day 3 are OK, but days 5,6 and 7 have programmes missing, including ITV3, SKY News etc. ALL the BBC programmes are showing for the full 7 days. We have a strong signal, we are not receiving any other transmitters except our local one (Wenvoe), and software etc is up to date. I would also welcome any suggestions. I have emailed HUMAX, but not received a reply as yet.

I am still having this problem since the Tyne Tees DSO. I have deleted all channels and scheduled recordings, manually retuned and restarted the box (PVR 9200T). Very strangely when the box was restarted the EPG filled in within 5 mins. This used to take hours. Also the remote button response was perfect for a few hours. Now the EPG is full of holes for example. Today is Tuesday 2/10 and the box has been on from standby for an hour. Channel Nos 1, 2, 12, 15, 16, 17, 19, 21, 23, 24, 27, 29, 38, 48, 55, 70 are all blank for Mon 8/10 although only a few of these are blank on the following day.

The remote control seems to be working in slow motion. It only seems to register button presses if there is a pause between them.

I too am having problems with the EPG of my PVR9200T since the retune on 19th Sep (Dover transmitter). I have tried everything that's been mentioned by others, and several times over the past days. Default setting, power cycle, manual tuning, nothing helps. As reported above, the EPG for today and up to day 3 seems full, then gaps start appearing, becoming more widespread as the days progress, but not consistently. The gaps actually seem to change according to the currently watched channel, suggesting that there is no caching going on beyond day 3. (I've just changed from ch5 to ch5+1, and lost large chunks of EPG, including losing BBC days 4,5,6 but not 7, weird!)
Signal quality is 100%, software up to date, and before 19 Sep the EPG was perfect for the full 7 days, so I'd love to know what changed 'behind the scenes' on 19 Sep, that the Hummy doesn't seem to be able to cope with.

For me the problem started in April with the Crystal Palace DSO. Before then, the EPG was full with no gaps (yes, I used to look ahead a lot), then afterwards the gaps appeared (I mentioned this in another thread). To me it seems that some change has happened on the transmitter's side to have caused this. That's not to say that the Humax isn't at fault, because maybe this change shouldn't have caused this reaction, and other boxes and TVs seem not affected (like my Sony TV), but some change seems to have happened. Still, other people with Humax boxes aren't affected, so that points the finger at us users who are suffering the issue, but I'm 100% confident that I've followed the procedures to ensure that there isn't something like co-transmitter interference happening (resulting in channels in the 800s), doing default settings resets, etc.

I don't think this can be anything to do with particular transmitters. I've been getting it a lot recently, from Crystal Palace (which is the only transmitter I can receive).

It seems to get worse after a re-tune, and lasts for weeks or months. Maybe it's a permanent problem the 9000 series Humaxes will have with the current broadcasting regime.

This is not a new problem. It was reported following the Winter Hill DSO back in March 2010. I do not think a solution was ever found.

Yes I did have a look at my friend's 9300 EPG on Friday evening, she had re-tuned earlier in the day. I found a couple of small gaps but, like mine, nothing to write home about, nothing on the scale being reported in this thread. I had a quick look at my 9200 EPG last night and was surprised to see much bigger gaps but I didn't have time to have a thorough look.

While I don't claim to know how the EPG is delivered I did read a while ago a post from a chap who I believe did have a thorough understanding. From what I remember the EPG is delivered in three and a half day chunks for each multiplex with priority being given to the tuned multiplex. This may explain why people are seeing a full EPG for the tuned multiplex and only half an EPG for the rest, the situation being reversed as a channel from a different multiplex is selected. Since the split NIT event some years ago this is now the normal EPG behaviour for the PVR-8000T. Please don't shoot me down for the above, I realise I might be talking out of my rear end.

Many people here are saying that the EPG on their other equipment is always full, as it is on my own Panasonic DVD/VHS recorder. It has always appeared to me that the Humax EPG is very dynamic, particularly with earlier software, what you see is what you get. It could be that other equipment stores more permanently any EPG information received and simply displays the store. If at some point EPG information disappears it could be that it is not reflected in the store but the last stored information continues to be displayed, then the EPG will always looks full.

Ah, thanks for the interesting post. I can live with three days, but I'd rather the full seven. On the link posted above, the change with DSO seems to be highlighted as a possible cause/catalyse. That'd also be my own observation. Still, correlation doesn't necessarily mean causation, etc...

I've had a bit of trouble with gaps too. Interesting post by les.

I've found the remote response sluggish on occasions lately (and some other oddities that may be related) and I think this may hark back to the old days before the epg was cached. The problem then was (or seemed to be) that while trying to populate the epg after startup, the box was very sluggish. The software update that introduced caching of the epg on the HDD largely fixed this. I'd hazard a guess that with large parts of the epg empty the box is again spending excessive processing resources on trying to fill it (don't ask me!) and hence causing the sluggish response time - again

As ever my advice is do not keep pressing the buttons - wait for the box to act on each press (or a few if you've already got ahead of it) before pressing another. It will get there, maybe many seconds later, but if you keep pushing them it will quite possibly freeze up completely, which may cause you a whole new set of pain.
And if possible turn the box on some minutes before you want to use it.

I think this is very good advice because pressing a button a second time usually cancels the request. For example, press the Guide button once, and nothing happens, so you press it again (or any even number of times) and you've probably cancelled the request.

I now have only half an EPG on my 9200 for multiplexes I'm not tuned to, the same as other members in this thread. It seems the problem has crept up on me during the last week.

my 9300T { version 1.00.26 } has a strong signal { strength and quality are both very good } from Crystal Palace and has also developed the exact same problem and I cant pick up any other transmitter - at most I only have a 3 day EPG which is very annoying.

The box itself is working normal apart from that and the EPG was fine before the last reshuffle.

My TV EPG is fine and shows the full seven days so it has to be the Humax or the data that is being sent to the Humax.

The EPG data on my Hauppauge USB dongle appears OK. As far as I can tell the TV EPG data is OK (complicated by the fact the TV changes channel when you try to view the EPG ). It does seem as though this is a Humax problem.

well it has to be as the TV is sharing the same aerial as the Humax so with the TV there is no gaps but the Humax is full of them

I left it on ITV1 and my EPG runs out at 2.40 am Monday on ITV1 and Film4 ends at 9pm Sunday.

sure it will fill in by tomorrow night but if I was going away I would be stuffed if I did not have freesat and virgin cable TV so I am not dependant on the Humax .

Humax emailed me back yesterday and suggested I reset the PVR9300T to default conditions, even though I had told them in my email that I had done this roughly six times already to no avail! I followed their instructions very carefully, and yet the problem is still there. I have written to them again but expect the same reply from them yet again - your box need to be reset!!!!! Do they have any trained staff or do they simply send out "standard" letters telling customers to reset their boxes whatever the problem?

I suspect that there isn't a permanent solution to the problem and we shall just have to put up with it until it's time to replace our 9000 series PVRs with HDR-FOX T2s. I don't think that Humax are going to issue any more software upgrades for what is quite an old series.

It's not good though if Freeview (or whoever is in control) keep moving the goalposts just to accommodate more rubbish channels. People can't be expected to keep replacing their hardware.

Maybe things will improve after the next retune middle of this month, 17th I think.

Both my 9200 and my parents' 9150 still have EPGs full of holes.

Tonight I noticed another problem. Every programme I have on my recorded programme list from 21st September onwards has no programme details if the info button is pressed. There is no programme title (other than in the recorded programme list itself) and no episode information.

I have always had this on occasion for random programmes but now it is for everything since 21st September (actually the programme before this was from the 17th September so it may have started any time from the 18th onwards).

Has anybody else noticed this?

Selecting for record and setting a series-link for today's F1 GP does not link to next week's GP, either Saturday or Sunday. Selecting next week's GP, Saturday or Sunday, does not offer the series-link option. Is this a mistake by the BBC or is it linked to the September retune problem?

I think you'll find that today's GP is series linked to the live events at 6/7am next Saturday/Sunday, but not to the lunchtime repeats. At least it seems to be on mine.

Similar story on my PVR9200T. For the last few weeks (maybe since a retune, carefully targeted at just the Sutton Coldfield transmitter's Multiplexes) I seem to lose EPG for ITV1, Ch4 & Ch5 for anything more than a few days ahead. Most other channels, including obscure ones, seem fine, but these major three are blank.

Very annoying, anyone got any ideas when this mess is likely to be resolved?

I emailed Humax Support last week and am awaiting a response. I linked to this forum thread so if anyone else is having a similar problem then please add your experience.

I realize that the PVR9200T is now well past its sell by date but I think that it is a really good box when working correctly (in my case up to a month ago).

If upgrading my box is the next step then I will have to research which of the many HD PVRs in the market is worth having. Although the HDR FOX T2 looks good I am reluctant to consider it if it also has its peculiar Humax specific problems.

I visited my parents this evening and expected their 9150T to have the same problem but, no - their info button revealed the programme name and all associated details.
When I got home again I performed a 'default values' reset on my 9200 and tuned the multiplexes manually hoping that it would sort the problems from now on.
Unfortunately, having checked out this evening's recordings - the problem remains! Is it just me?
Incidentally, I believe the problem must have started when I retuned for the latest EPG reshuffle on September 19th.
