Will you be trading your phat or slim for the superslim?

Anyone?

I'm keeping hold of my beloved slim until the end of this gen now - barring breakdown.

On the other hand, anybody rushing out to buy the existing Slim before the new superslim fills the shelves in stores?

Do you like the new slim?

Personally I not that bothered about it, if I needed to buy one then I would.

Why would you want to, they only ever redesign to cut costs and you end up with a console made from even cheaper parts. The new PS3 looks cheap and ugly.

My trusty old 60Gb launch day PS3 finally died last week

I know full well that the super-slim is due any time now, and probably at a cheaper price but I still got myself a 320Gb slim.

I'd much rather have that than the hideous looking super-slim.

Most people have just seen the low quality factory shots but the final images look quite nice.

The factory images of the PS3 Slim looked ugly before finished images surfaced on the net.

That being said, I more than happy with my backwards compatible Spider-Man font phat one, although I do wish it would consume less power.

i'd definitely think about buying a new "super-slim" ssd drive model if i can remove the drive and replace it with the 500gb drive from my phat, anybody know if the ssd drive is a 2.5 inch removable drive like previous ps3 models?

I wonder if they will figure out a way to swap discs with the door open, like the ps1 did in the latter days:cool

Keeping the phatty.

Still occasionally play ps2/ps1 games on it.

Cards reader and USB's in use all the time too.

2 repairs and counting though....

Sony are not going to put an SSD in the PS3 as it is not cost effective.

The rumoured 12GB unit will have flash based storage with an empty drive bay for you to add your own drive. The 500GB will be a normal 2.5" 5400rpm SATA.

No need to upgrade - but if you don't own one or want another then the cheaper the better.

^^^^what Conroy says, the SSD reports are just dumb for a reduced-cost machine which is predominantly going to be used to launch PS3 in less developed territories where the PS2 is still the biggest seller (there are some).

I won't be getting one to replace my Slim, but I would consider one as a bedroom unit to save me having to fix my launch fatty AGAIN!

If you put a 500gb in a 12gb model will the PS3 have two storage "areas"

Its not a new one though it is

its the same one slighty smaller, this isn't like the 3DSXL you aren't getting anything special from having a smaller PS3 the games will stay play on your TV exactly the same

I seem to remember when the 360S appeared, many existing 360 owners traded for the newer 360S.

If folk want the latest model then I don't see why its stupid, what ever their reason. I'm sure its worth it to them.
