Have you got anti-virus running? Can you download Malwarebytes on another PC and run on your PC? |

If you have no other browser to try I suppose a system restore to before the problem started might be worth a try.
Two links from eHow 1, Use msconfig to find where problem lies. 2, In case rundll32.exe is a virus. |

type 'Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool' into start box run that .
^this is updated every month with automatic updates unless you disabled it. if you cant tap f8 while rebooting and try to go into safe mode then run any security you have. you say your av is on but have/are you running manual scan. only other option is go into safe mode with networking (iirc)enabled and try download AV like malwarebytes and run. keep posting back till your sorted .best of luck. |

Post the exact error message, including any other relevant info (what other programs won't open, have you had or removed any malware, any other errors or things no longer working, etc?).

It may be a good idea to run the free version of Malwarebytes to see if there are any problems. Did you download any programs recently that are not there now because you have restored it to an earlier date ?

At a minimum I’d use something like www.dropbox.com Installing this will create a folder in your my documents folder. Anything you save or change in that folder will be uploaded to the web. Even if your PC dies completely you can go to another one and access all the files. The free account gives you around 2GB of space so is good for backing up documents but if you have a lot of videos or similar then look at other forms of backup. Have a look at how big you’re my docs folder is now if it’s under the 2GB limit then you could drag everything from there into the dropbox sub folder and have it all backed up. Above and beyond this I’d get an external disk drive and schedule weekly backups of the whole system. Then if you have a disk failure you’ve got somewhere to go. |
