Best has always been Liam for me. His audition was outstanding.He is faultless live and is the backbone of the group.
I would place them in this order
Liam
Zayn ( much improved )
Harry
Niall
Louis

In terms of auditions, I would have said Liam is the best of course, but I think a lot has changed since then, so I'm going with:

Niall, then Liam, then Harry, then Louis, then Zayn.

I think Zayn is useless.

Last year? It was 2010......you obviously paid attention to them 2 years later. He's far from the worst singer.

Liam - the only real vocal talent

Harry - moderately good voice (nicest tone).

Zayn & Niall - do not rate them at all

Louis but he makes a good front man and I can see him doing well in TV presenting in later years.

But does it matter - we live in the days of the autotuner. Marketing and image is far more important for the market they are selling to. They have a great image and seem really fun lads

Liam - Above average singer (very slightly).

Zayn - During his audition, I found him exceedingly generic in my initial point of view; but much to my dismay, his vocal control and singing ability has moderately improved ever since One Direction obtained prosperity within the international music business.

Harry - Too young.

Niall - Below average and substandard.

Louis - Indescribably deplorable...that is all.

The best singer is definitely Liam, in my opinion. His audition (for example) was miles and miles above the others in the group.

I think Liam and Zayn are both great singers, Niall is alright aswell, Harry is average & Louis is just under. I don't think any of them have an amazing voice, but none of them are bad at all.

So obviously Harry isn't the best singer, why he's treated like the lead singer in the group is beyond me. I don't have 1D's album, but apparently there are songs where Niall and Louis are totally excluded from the production/taking parts in the song, that's ridiculous.

Yes they are Niall in particular I think. I think the 2nd album should be more equal really. I love Harry's tone but he's so hit and miss during live performances...the nerves get to him.

Also they should give Liam more challenging vocals...like look at his audition - there's a lot more he can do vocally.

But if you think Scott is so bad why didn't you switch off? Unless you are at work and have to listen then I pity you

As for best and worst it is always a personal choice and not a fact.

I love Harry's tone but realise he can be hit or miss live which I hope improves with maturity and experience and if he does then he will be a real contender..

Zayn has come on in leaps and bounds and right now is the best although Liam is probably technically the best. I don't like Louis's voice and think he sounds awful live.
