I don't hate them; I even quite like a few songs from their album which I've heard courtesy of my little sister but I don't think that they are the best thing since sliced bread like so many people seem to. On Twitter I've found myself saying negative things about them not because I hate them but because their fans come out with completely illogical and stupid statements, a few examples:
"Neither Michael Jackson, Madonna or The Beatles ever had the most pre-ordered song on Itunes" "One Direction have three singles in the charts at the moment. Queen has none. Who is better now?" "I remember when I was laughed at for saying 1D would be bigger than The Beatles. Now look at them2 It's just aggravating and stupid and something I really shouldn't get all that angry about but it's so damn hard not to. Had Itunes been around when Jacko, Madge and The Beatles were on top of their game the pre-orders would've been huge. As lads they seem alright. I have my issues with Louis as he was an absolute idiot when I knew him (we were at school together) but Zain, Liam, Niall and Harry all seem decent and likeable |

Itunes wasn't even around when Beatles, MJ and Madonna started and their music has become legendary, classic.
How can anyone justify their ridiculous opinion that 1D are bigger than the Beatles when their music has proved timeless and lived through numerous generations. The world is dying. |

The problem for me is I see them as a group of lads that just wanted to be famous. If Simon Cowell has said to them, 'look, I think you would be really good in my next soap opera', I think they would have just as gladly jumped at that chance.
Nothing wrong with that, but isn't really what stirs my musical emotions. So it's not hate, just indifference. |

I don't "hate" them but I dislike their egos, total lack of talent, and the whole Directioners thing. They basically represent everything bad about modern chart music - bland, safe, throwaway crap. In five years I fully expect to see their fanbase desert them as they grow old enough to think for themselves in terms of musical tastes, and while the next load of manufactured pretty boys come along members of 1D will appear on things like Strictly, Celeb BB and I'm A Celeb as they desperately grasp at their last chances for fame.
It's actually kind of sad. |

I don't hate them just what they represent they have had to do very little to gain alot with not much talent and not very good music and comaprisions to The Beatles is nothing short of an insult the hysteria comparision yes but with The Beatles and others it was warrented as they worked incredibly hard with no shortcuts and created iconic music that is still being heard loved and listend to today 1D have had 1 massive hit in The Uk and a decent selling album probably nice guys but as for their music not a fan.

Well my take on it is that they are pretty harmless, every generation of teenage girl/boy has to have their crush on somebody (mine was Pat Benatar, she was pretty hot back in the day).
They obviously don't have any disernable talent and are basically one massive PR exercise...give it two years and they will be nothing but a distant memory so good luck to them while it lasts. |

I don't like their attitudes. They seem very arrogant and it's gone to their heads. Of course, they've had a massive rise to fame but even so, some of the worlds biggest popstars are still grounded, likeable alongside their talent. Not all of the boys though - Niall and Liam seem down to earth. Louis however... he seems a complete arse, cocky tool and full of his own self importance and worth. I don't like that.

Let's be honest, if they weren't attractive, they wouldn't be as successful. Personally, I reckon they should give up music and go into porn. I'd like them more then

I cant hate something that doesnt feature in my life, they arent played on the radio stations I listen to, they arent mentioned in magazines I read, if they come on the tv its only 3 minutes of my time. Nothing to hate as they arent really part of my world. Also I am not their demographic, harmless pop, nothing more.

I don't hate them. Their songs aren't changing the world but they are a boy band aimed at girls and their songs reflect that.
I almost applaud them for being so successful and I think they should milk it for allmit's worth well they still can because boy bands don't seem to last forever. I men look at the Jonas Brothers they were going to be the best thing and look what happened to them. I don't follow them on Twitter so I can't say if they come across as stuck up or not but in the media they come across as nice enough guys. The reason they get a lot of stuck is because I think a lot (not all) of their fans are slightly insane and I think that's why they have a bit of a bad name. |

People shouldn't treat them any differently to Westlife. Ten years ago the 13 year old girls were raving about them, I'm sure if they had twitter as an outlet then you would have constantly seen trends relating to them and their songs.
It is the fans that annoy people the most I think, the internet has made it so much easier for fan communities to congregate and voice their "army". But really - it's no different to what we've already seen time and time again be it Take That in the 90s or Westlife in the early 00s. Where there is teenage girls - boybands will forever prosper! Eventually the girls grow up and then reflect on their obsessions with either embarrassment or fondness. |

There's always a backlash against boy bands.

Good looking boybands that play inoffensive, catchy pop have always attracted massive 'fanbois' (i.e. anyone who doesn't hate them) and equally massive 'haters' (i.e. anyone who doesn't love them). If I was a twelve year-old girl I'd love them, but I'm not, so I don't. If DS was around in the 1960's, there'd be threads about "Why do people hate The Beatles?".

They're well fit n da haterz r just well jel init.
Nah. I don't hate them, but I'm not a fan at all. I think they're overrated and unlikeable. Nothing to do with the usual jealousy that's trotted out, I don't want, nor will I ever want, to be a singer.

I don't know anyone who doesn't hate them. So I guess the question should be why do some people like them?
