But she does count as a companion to those who follow the "travels in tardis" thing. (i don't really count people who just got involved in a single adventure and weren't offered more. but that's just me).

It was the producers who thought he worked wasn't it - there wasn't enough time to have gotten any audience feedback.

Maybe I remembered it wrong then! Either way it's hard to imagine the 2nd Doctor without Jamie now.

The journalist was to be called Penny Carter. Penny was northern and had a northern mother; a Sheridan Smith type. And then Julie Gardner had lunch with Catherine Tate on 22nd March 2007 and Tate apparently out the blue offered to do all of series 4, and Penny Carter never happened. (All from chapters 1 and 2 of The Writers Tale.)”

Sheridan's already a companion anyway. She played Lucie Miller in the Big Finish audios.

Not sure if she would have worked as well as Ace in the long run, that we shall never know.....”

I agree on all of this. Loved Ray.

Doctor and the Vincent ...

I am aware of this. I really dislike To The Death, it may be my least favourite Doctor Who ever in terms of the story. Someone should tell Nic Briggs it might be okay to have a happy ending from time to time.

None, because both stories were being written and planned at the same time. They knew all along it was going to be either / or. Thats why they have some similar traits.

Hilary Ryan played a brilliant Time Lady called Rodan in The Invasion of Time. I only mention this because she was a terrific additional companion for that story . . and it seemed a bit of a missed opportunity for her not to have jumped on board the TARDIS at the end of the story, when Leela and K-9 left!

I believe she was also concerned about Dr Who fans being a bit too . . . well . . . fanatical!

100% agree. Not just because of
Spoiler
Lucie's fate, but Alex too. SO many loose ends in that story such as why Alex had no Time Lord DNA despite being Susan's son.
