Just got a nexus 7 and as soon as I set up the wallet on there I get £15 for apps, as a movie and music geek, I just wondered what are the best music and movie apps I can purchase

If you've got regular access to wifi, or a generous 3g data plan, get Tunein Radio. The basic (free) version gives you thousands of radio stations around the world, allowing you to search music by genre. However, the paid-for version lets you record the song/show in mp3 format, and will even do timer recordings. |

I'd pay the quid or whatever it is for full version of Tune in. You can record radio shows so can use offline (no wi-fi areas) later which is great.
I mainly use Spotify which is free but service is tenner a month, for me it's worth it. Online\offline linked to\car stereo\ home hifi superb. |

I don't think there are movie apps as such but you can buy subscription to netflix, love film, amazon (and soon google) which all support android I believe.

For playing films of any format, then MX player is really good. There's a free version as well as a paid app. The only advantage of the paid app is no adverts, but they are pretty minimal anyway.
Another app I use in conjunction with MX player and my Synology NAS, is MediaHouse UPnP / DLNA Browser. This lets me stream over my wi-fi all the films and box sets I have stored on my NAS. If I have a good 3g or better signal I have streamed it over the net as well, although that was just as a test due to my data plan. |
