Agreed. Unless it's a long running story with major players involved, with heavy screentime - thinking of Sharongate and Stax here - a Chryed cheating plot is going to do nothing to improve ratings, absoultely nothing - especially when you factor in how little viewers have seen of them lately. Do they think floating viewers will care enough to tune in?

The reason why NYD 2010 was such a huge hit in the ratings is because Santer managed to build that story over 6 months, where the viewers got to see Christian and Syed fall in love, see Syed's homophobic mother plug ahead with the wedding unaware her golden boy was in fact gay, and witness the oblivious wife. It was a fantastic plot and even if you didn't like Chryed as a couple, anyone with half a brain would know the day Zainab discover all would be TV gold - and it was.

However a reveal after seeing Christian or Syed cheat would not bring in the viewers. It didn't when Gary learned Lynn had been unfaithful with Beppe on the eve of his wedding, and neither did it when Denise learned from Shirely she had slept with Kevin on her wedding - so I really doubt it will with Chryed.

However all the above does prove that it would be "typical eastenders" to do this. Asyousay, you are right that they don't give a fig about the fans but I'm hoping, albiet naively, that Lorraine also adopts the no cheating policy with Chryed, and that unlike previous couples who have soapy cheating plots prior to the big day, that with Chryed it simply would NOT work.

Thought I'd post this BK quote, as it mentions cheating, hopefully LN feels the same. Not sure the date of the interview.

“You’ve said that soap couples don’t really get happy endings. Is that true for Christian and Syed as well? Say it isn’t so!”

With a matter of only weeks left of Chryed on our screens, please tptp keep that uniqueness intact.

However yes, I hope thier latest storyline is something that will give them that much needed exposure, characterisation etc - but without hindering thier story by some ridiculous cheating plot. For all of BK's faults - and he had many - I'll always be greatful that he manged to keep Christian and Syed faithful, so I'm hoping this still applies in the latest story, whether it's his work or Lorraines.

Really didn't enjoy tonight's episode much at all. The whole business debacle thing is just stupid, it makes no sense at all and it's impossible to take seriously. Flogging crap out of a suitcase in the market and running off when the inspector turns up is great when it's Del Boy Trotter...Syed Masood, not so much:sleep: And as for Christian turning into Amira circa 2009...ffs What happened to the Christian who could read Syed like a book, as well as having great emotional intelligence and a functioning brain cell? It's so contrived and lazy. How naive of me to have thought TPTB might actually put some thought and care into Chryed's final sl The worst thing about it is that as cringeworthy and annoying as this whole business sl is, in a few weeks time we'll all be wishing it back cos at least it's better than Syed cheating To think people once complained about the blackmail plot! The only good thing about this episode was Johnny and Marc's chemistry, particularly in the lunch scene, but in a way that just makes it worse, seeing what TPTB are throwing away What a complete and utter cock-up. I've said it before and I'll say it again, they should have left with DTC and Santer:sleep:

I think I can see where it's all going now and it's going to come full circle. After seeing Syed in the lock-up I had a vision.
It's Chryed and the Giant Bleach...and they are going to float away in the (empty) bottle which will be carried off by a flock of giant seagulls (who are not! from Pakistan):sleep:

That would still be more realistic than Syed "I'm a one man man" Masood suddenly cheating on the love of his life, the man he gave up everything for, with some random David Cameron lookalike:sleep:

I really did enjoy the first scene yesterday, Marc and Johnny have so much chemistry and Chryed looked so happy and in love.

I'm feeling rather sympathetic to JN's point of view. Unless EE finds some way to turn this pile of crap s/l around into something good (which seems a lot to hope for)... :sleep:

Hi Chryedguy To be honest I thought I would be upset to hear from Johnny that Friday is his last day filming, but I felt relief that he and Marc can now go and work on something that will showcase their talent and I will in six weeks or so never have to watch EE again. I will miss Chryed but feel that EE have lost sight of their past and it's not going to change.

I have to agree with you. This exit s/l experience is sort of souring me on soap operas. I love Chryed, but the material that they are being given by EE is just so bad.

Me too,I have never really watched any soaps regularly before Chryed, and as much as I have enjoyed watching them, I don't see myself watching another soap for a very long time.
