You're thinking of Life of Brian.

so what even if it is a nod to west world?? for gods sake

Dr Who has done this for as long as I can remember... they are called 'pastiches' ... the best years of Tom Baker was full of em

Personally I hope they do a 'pastiche' of the film Christine, but with a space ship hunting down the tardis - chasing it even through the vortex. Space ship is empty - no one on board. A really dark and scary story in the tone of 'midnight'... now that would be mint. A copy yes, but mint

For me it was more like the Red Dwarf episode Gunmen of the Apocalypse.

I kept expecting the Doctor to release the TARDIS' Dove Programming.

It reminded me heavily of Westworld. Sorry, but it did. But why does that need to be a bad thing?

But what it reminded you of is a personal thing for you. It doesn't make it a rip-off of Westworld.

No need to be sorry.

It reminded me heavily of it too (in that my first thought on seeing the trailer was of Westworld). It also reminded Toby Whithouse heavily of it. He spoke about that openly.

there's a difference between acknowledging that one thing superficially looks like another, or may even have taken some inspiration from it, and dismissing the whole thing as a lazy rip off.

The stories were very different.

Also - isn't it a bit odd that the whole idea of the Westworld robot was that it looked exactly human and used period weapons. But the Mercy cyborg was defined by not looking human and using a space age weapon.
