Using the ONKYO TX-NR818 to drive two TVs from the two HDMI outputs:-
One TV is in the lounge
The second in the kitchen.
Both get perfect pictures.
Neither gets sound - so I set the sound to go through the HDMI as well. So now we have sound as well.
BUT
Now I can't get surround sound or any of the sound programs to work in the main listening room.
So far it has taken ONKYO two weeks NOT to reply to my request for help.
Anyone here know how to get around this?
At the moment I send the sound directly from the input devices (TiVo, Panasonic PVR and SONY BluR) via a seperate wireless link to an amplifier in the kitchen!! Really rather more complicated than it should be surely.

Most amps I have seen have the option to intercept audio and send it the speakers or pass it straight through. A few may do both (selected from a menu option). My elderly Denon only does the former. Check the setup options on the amp.

Cheers for this. On re-reading the manual it would seem that the ONKYO cannot intercept the sound feed, only process it OR pass it through. I feel that this is a design oversight rendering the second HDMI output suitable only for projectors I guess but it does seem a pity.

Looks like the 818 is unable to provide audio over the two HDMI outputs at the same time, better explained here, post 577.

You may find the whole 818 owners thread interesting too.

Many thanks for this. My suspicions are confirmed.
So, for the time being I'm happy to have the superb picture on both sets and the slightly complicated but, actually, quite good sound solution as is.
What was a happy surprise was that I had no lip sync issues. I really expected that to be a problem by the time I had routed the sound out to the kitchen via a wireless link from the source units and then had it playing against the HDMI link but maybe that is because the HDMI link is also fed out to the kitchen via a pretty expensive two box system that sends HDMI over coax.
