Foreknowledge is dangerous (spec)

Ever since the Library episodes I have been expecting something really sad to happen. Doctor has entered into a marriage he knows is doomed. He was speaking to the wrong pond girl when he said "I've took you by the hand and led you to your death" . Added to that the complication that his "wife" also happens to be his best freinds precious only daughter and you know there is going to be trouble. How much can one family be expected to take ?. Durring the two and half years we have had kidnap, abuse ,deaths, resurection,"murder" and prison. Plus the heartbreak that Amy can't have any more children.River knows something is wrong but doesn't know exactly what it is. Confining in Rory about the worst day of her life.Like her mother before her River's life and later her death and afterlife are all about the doctor. "I'm going to be a proffesor some day how exciting spoilers!". By telling her that she is now one step closer to the library. Thought it funny at her first graduation the only person who showed up to congratulate her on being "clever" was Kovarian. Childhood tormenetor who then procedeed to knock her out, strap her into a space suit of death and throw her to the bottom of a lake.

I don't think it's going to come as a surprise to anyone getting married that their spouse is going to die some day.

"Yeah, well, everyone dies. You're born, and you die. The bit in the middle's called life, and that's still to come!" - Dave Lister

Which bits are the speculation? That something bad might happen to someone in the next couple of episodes?

Had to do this to read it properly, as the sheer block of text was very daunting. But some nice ideas there, not sure what your point is

Was it a marriage of convenience or did he really want to commit to River and found a way of doing so, in a round about way

Did River Song actually marry the Doctor? As he was in the Teselecta at the time, the 'ritual' might not have been valid.

That's a point, in the episode River could have been a Teselecta too.

There wasn't any kind of official, legal or religious representative there either - just Rory giving his consent, so I don't think there's any kind of official standing to it anyway.

It was just two people committing themselves to each other. The words were both theirs, even if one of them was inside another person at the time. Err..

As I've said before when the queestion of the legality of the marriage of the Doctor and River has been raised, we don't know what the legal form is on Gallifrey. Maybe that's how they legally marry. You have to fill in the gaps, johnny!

And the Doctor was certainly there, and saying the words, so I don't see the problem if he was wearing a Tesselecta suit.

More of a problem would be that it was in a different timeline, so is anything that happened there valid in the timeline the Doctor and River inhabit now?

erm - it was a ruse so that River knew he'd survive.
Otherwise saying - just look into my eyes, I'm all tiny in a future robot thingy (kinda giving the whole I'm dead thing away)

Can you please stop blaming the Doctor for everything that seemingly goes wrong with Amy, Rory, and River please?

What about Kovarian and the Silence? Surely, they're more responsible?

Or the Vashta Nerada/virtual world River goes to?

Why is it the Doctor's fault all the time in your posts?
