What direction should Kylie take on her next studio album?
With Kylie currently hard at work on her 12th studio album, I was wondering what people thought her direction should be?
Personally, I thought Aphrodite was a brilliant album and classic dance/euphoric Kylie but I feel change coming for this next album... What do you think? |

I liked Aphrodite but it was Kylie by numbers too simplistic and straight forward. I think Kylie should do a stripped back Jazz sounding album with hints of electro and maybe some D&B but stay cleer of the current trend of generic dance.

It's very difficult with Kylie. Any time she takes a really radical change it's not automatically well received. I would love Kylie to make a stamp on this decade like she did last time and find a huge song like CGYOMH, but on that big a scale, I'm not sure it's possible to recreate. I'd like Kylie to play to her strengths but be daring at the same time? Sort of like taking the experimental side of X with Like A Drug, Speakerphone, Cherry Bomb, Magnetic Electric and combining it with that dance/euphoric Kylie we saw on Aphrodite so we have some familiar ground too. Perhaps a little exploration into the trance field? Maybe some D&B, I could see Kylie playing with that.

I think she'd be best continuing down the 'stripped back' jazz type sounds she did on her anti-tour.
The big radio stations have ignored all of her dance/pop stuff in recent years, and I think she'd find more success down the 'Radio2' route. |

why is there always a question about direction, cohesiveness, and the sort? why can't they just make music. i dont think an album doesn't have to be a story or just one sound. music should be fun and free and without so many rules that we put on it. especially now, that everything has been done before.

Stripped back jazz album without a doubt. Or something less dance
Dance music is getting too repetitive from Kylie. She doesn't mix it up like Madonna and Gaga do. I find Kylie needs an edge and to take a risk with her next album. I can't be doing with another dance pop album from her. It just gets lame. |

Kylie has a problem. For every person who wants her to do more of the same, there's another desperate for her to do something different. Plus there is a large proportion of her fan base who simply refuse to be pleased.
I think it will be very interesting to see how "The Abbey Road Sessions" album performs. And especially the single, "Flower", which really couldn't be further removed from the expected Kylie sound. If it's a huge success, maybe there will be more of the same on the next album. But maybe not. Kylie is usually brilliant when she's making dance pop music. I believe the next album needs to be in that arena but with a sound that's new for her and not really following the crowd either. A dubstep or drum&bass album would be DREADFUL and I think she'd be seen to be jumping on a bandwagon, no? (Whenever Kylie's been seen to jump on a bandwagon, the result has been less successful than when she's had an edge in terms of sound.) So, dance music for me, but dance music the likes of which we've not heard yet. Impossible? I think not! And please - nobody say she's too old for dance music. |

For me personally as a fan i would love to see her do an album like Impossible Princesses so Indie music for me. I mean i would beg for a proper duet with Manic Street Preachers, could even ask Nick Cave to come back for some more songs.
Kylie Indie is my fav. Some Kind of Bliss is still my fav song from Kylie |
