What makes you say that? There's nothing in its design and operation that makes it US specific.

Indeed. But until they get more firms to partner with outside of the US it is of limited use at the moment. Personally I don't fly Lufthansa very often so I'm out of luck.

Any developer can use PassBook. In fact, you don't even need a corresponding app. The framework supports standalone passes.

As I posted on a different thread, it just depends on whether or not companies over here are interested in bringing the functionality to their customers.

From a developer's pov, what advantage does Passbook offer them?

There are no shortage of apps offering tickets or loyalty cards - both Starbucks and Virgin Trains have their own solutions which I use. Admttedly VT probably have everything on hold right now as they're about to lose their franchise, but why would they or anyone else move existing functionality to a new interface that they dont have as much control over....

Maybe automatically displaying the relevant ticket or loyalty card on the customers lockscreen at the checkout to ensure data capture is beneficial?
