I was wondering if anyone can help.

I live in Dublin, and I purchased a TV from the UK. I can't tune in any channels, as most of the terresstrial channels in Ireland are VHF (and UK TV's work off UHF), so I need an "upconverter" to convert these VHF freqnencies to UHF so my channels will tune in (my sky box is fine!).

Any help?
Thanks. None of the electronics shops in Ireland stock any...which is odd.

Could you not just buy a cheap Irish VCR?

It's actually for the GF's dad, who is quite old - and he can't get his head around not having the channels tuned in on the TV. The VCR is tuned in, but he can't watch something else while he records.

Perhaps you just need a new aerial, all VHF transmissions have a co-located UHF transmission, and Dublin Three Rock is UHF only, and IIRC RTÉ are in the process of turning off VHF so a new aerial will be needed eventually anyway

I might have a couple knocking around in the shed, left over from cable TV use twenty years ago. If I can find them you can have them for the cost of postage (paypal), but I can't guarantee they are working.

Edit, I can test them on local cable before sending.
