I agree, though I think it is worst with the new budget versions, when the original broadcasters do not renew and a smaller channel takes on BB. The Canadian BB is expected to have live feed so there will be more opportunity for comparing what was seen on LF with the edited highlight shows. LF was what got me hooked on BB originally. IIRC C4 was always hot on removing clips from YouTube, particularly any recorded LF.

I am barely hanging on with BB:Au and increasingly resentful of the limited highly edited version we are getting; I cannot be bothered to watch any of the videos that get uploaded to YouTube. I enjoyed season 8 (hated the winner) so much I was was prepared to pay for live feed if necessary when it returned. Perhaps my time following BB is coming to an end, not a bad thing.
The shows are produced to secure ratings (and ad revenues) not necessarily to reflect reality, so I don't really gripe too much about any disparities. What concerns me about stricter enforcement of copyright on youtube etc is the denial of voluntary enthusiasm of avid fans and effectively rendering all recent HG's invisible. Players like Dr Will, Dan and Janelle et al have sustained their legendary status in the "BB community" because enough of their game play and antics have been enshrined on youtube etc for each new generation of viewers/enthusiasts to see. How can anyone from BB12 onwards ever be considered potential All Stars, if no one can even remember them? If CBS itself is treating the HG's as entirely disposable assets, why shouldn't the viewers?

By attempting to drip feed fans only through "authorised" channels, CBS is effectively choking the very enthusiasm that they are seeking to control and presumably profit from. By weakening the commitment of the fanbase, I fear CBS is ultimately making their show more easily disposable too. Is this their intent? Have they bought into the "casual viewer" argument propounded by the likes of C5 UK?

For me, BB is mindless pap, without the wider context of the LF. I've simply (and all too easily) given up on BBUK and BBAus. Witnessing the increasing (and largely unjustified) cuts to the BBUSA LF, I really fear the writing is on the wall for them too.....

American shows by their nature it seems try and cater for the casual audience. Why else do they give spoiler previews of next episodes? Programs spoil before every advert break what happens next. All this is because of catering to the casual viewer who they are scared of losing every second of the show. The Amazing Race now is edited so fast at times it's like a music video. And this style has definitely spread overseas.

I said in my post that I'm not particularly concerned about the content, editing or production style of the shows.

I'm fretting about CBS deliberately weakening BB's hardcore fan base (by zealously pursuing copyright "abuse" and by vastly increasing cuts to the LF). CBS appear to be following the examples of both C5 UK and C9 Aus who have both removed their LF's altogether and value "casual" viewers (in other words...not me LOL) above all.

@shanemeaney hey the game is over Shane I'm sick of you talking shit don't say my name anymore I never talk shit about you

Pray for Shane (y'all). Emotionally stunted, intellectually challenged, poor, but hey, he's dating Danielle (allegedly), though she's far more intelligent than him (LOL), for that to last.

Ain't nuthin' goin' right for this guy.....

monkanonksplayhouse posted this on survivorsucks (thanks) and I think it demonstrates (if it's genuine) just how loony some BB watchers can be...........

An email from the Shanielle fan site:

Hello Shanielle Family

Recently we discussed projects and gifts that we wanted to do for

our beloved couple Shane and Danielle. A list of nice tropical beaches

compiled and we received input from Shane and Danielle on where they

would like to travel. There dream vacation is Maui. We would like to

present this gift to them for Christmas. Your donations will determine

if this trip can be all –inclusive. (Flight, hotel, food,) We will need

everyone’s support in making this dream a reality.

As a fan of Shane and Danielle we would also like to honor their

birthdays. As you all know Shane’s birthday is Dec.9th and Danielle’s

Birthday is April 23rd. Dec. 9th is rapidly approaching. We are asking

everyone to contribute to making Shane’s Birthday one of the best he

has ever had. We would like to present Shane with a 250$ gift card

from Express clothing and 100$ gift card from ITunes to compliment

Danielle’s gift to him. Your donations are truly appreciated in making

Shane and Danielle smile.

We don’t want to specify an amount to give. Some can obviously give

more than others but every dime is welcome and will aid in making this

a beautiful December.

You may use the donate button on the home page to make your donations

as soon as possible.

Thank you

Shanielle Family

I have occasionally wondered what type of personality the likes of Jim Jones or David Koresh would look to recruit. Now I think I know......

I wonder if it's the same braintrust behind the Will & Janelle, Nick & Daniele and Jorff & Jerdan gift baskets.

There was once an internet personality known as Hellataz. Google might bring up some related hilarity.

I wonder if that's the person who paid Janelle $5k for the "basket of secrets", which she said (on the BB14 feeds) contained a music cd (among other things) burned for her by Will Kirby. It's a strange, strange world....
