Oh dear. Maybe it'll be better than we expect. I'd love them to get a score above 20. I hope she isn't bottom of the leaderboard.

Very good point PM especially as its her first SCD. I hope she's not going to be separated from the main bunch for the whole of SCD . Just looking at this lovely pic of Sid, Ola, Louis and Flavia enjoying a meal and how nice it is for them to talk about their SCD experience.

If she knows that lifts are not permitted and chooses to put them in anyway, then she deserves to have points deducted.

She may say that it is a "professional decision", but I don't see that as being professional at all.

Hope we haven't got someone else who blatantly ignores the rules. One Aliona is enough.

With the exception of a lift in her tango with Rav three years ago, where does Aliona 'blatantly ignore the rules'? She comes up with some unconventional interpretations of dance but I don't think she actually breaks the rules of the dance.

And just to point out - all we have to go on are a few brief training clips taken out of context from a session that lasted several hours, not the finished product.

She is often criticised for not putting enough content in or being too long out of hold. Both those things are breaking the rules of the dance.

Her tango with Harry had only ten to twenty seconds in hold, didn't it?

I quite like the releasing of one training video a day with the teaser trail. I wonder who will be today? It should be a woman, so Dani maybe or Jerry? I think they"ll keep Victoria or Denise until last.

I have to admit to really enjoying that Tango. It transformed Harry from slightly nervous and a bit dull to a killer dancer. It used his timing and gave him a character. I think the slight breaking of rules helped him feel a little rebellious to. (We cannot have too much of a rebellious nature in our modern rock stars can we?) So I guess at times it can be useful to wobble the rules but best not in week 1

Aliona was on ITT in week 6 or so and she said that the first few dances were deliberately lighter on content so that she could teach Harry some more technical aspects - so like how to do the sway with the rise and fall in ballroom (which I think Craig or Len praised him for in one of the later weeks).

Looking at the behind the scenes video, I wonder if the opening credits will be looking down on the celebs from above.

Her first dance and last 8 dances last year were all start to finish dances content wise.
In the American Smooth, her time out of hold was similar to Kristina's and Pasha's.

In Series 8 you just have to look through all her dances on Youtube to see that the content was very high (except for the jive).

There is a rule about time when you come out of hold and go back into hold (10 seconds) but in the Waltz, they never went back into hold.

Nicky has the whitest teeth i've ever seen

On previous posts regarding the lifts...Surely we shouldnt need to tweet Karen to tell her about lifts? Apart from her being a professional dancer, if she signed up, presumably she or her 'people' must be familiar with the show - and Nicky has been on ITT a few times and something of a superfan, so its not like she wouldn't actually know about what she's doing? We just have to assume she is taking a chance and/or not including the lifts in the finished performance. They look good together, hope they go far

Someone has brought Karen's attention to the lifts situation and , well, she replies like this:

"karen hauer
‏@karen_hauer
@Marie1767 thanks marie very sweet of u. Once u see the routine you will know why i made that professional decision.."

So, yes, we've got another Aliona on our hands

I didn't say that she does it all the time, neither am I saying that she is the only offender, merely responding to the post that said her lift with Rav was the only time she broke the rules. The Waltz was breaking the rules though by not being enough in hold. On ITT both Karen and Craig explained that routines should be out of hold for no more than 10 seconds at the beginning and 10 seconds at the end with an additional break in hold if the music calls for it, but again no longer than 10 seconds.

I think the trouble is they see Len and Bruno on DWTS and think they know them but don't realise they have completely different personas and judge the dances with completely different criteria on DWTS v Strictly. FFS, Len is the baddie on DWTS.

Not a good way to start imo, let everyone get to know you, toe the line for a while and then break the rules gradually. It's what Artem did, he broke the rules in Kara's AS but the judges forgave him, whereas Aliona bugged the bejesus out of them because she wouldn't listen.

I suspect the producers want another 'Aliona' or another rebel female pro that's going to create controversy!

It would have been old hat if they'd given the contender to Aliona yet again so she could continue her rebellious ways, it seems they've given the role for Karen to play this series with nice guy Nicky just as Aliona played it with nice guys Matt and Harry

Actually, I can see that happening....

Its not going to do her any favours though unless the judges ignore the blatant rule breaking... Even if they mention it and ignore it, its possible the viewing public might take against someone who breaks the rules frequently.

But she can really turn that round to her advantage by contritely learning from having her knuckles rapped and endearing them to Len & the GBP

I don't understand the reasoning of putting an illegal lift into a waltz, in her first ever dance and being so obvious about it in the training clip and tweet. It's just a bit odd

Looks like its Lisa today, her teaser trail is up

Of all the things you have to worry about Lisa, I think spray tans are pretty far down that list.
