Pointless dropped the number of teams in the head to head from three to two didn't it?

Years ago Bullseye changed the gamble option from just the prizes on the red & black board to the prizes plus the money they won in the early rounds.

Didn't you used to be able to hedge your bets in the last round of Million Pound Drop, so if you had more than one bundle of cash you were still guaranteed to win something?
Now you have to bet on one or the other. |

The first series of Telly Addicts was in "winner stays on" format but one family keep on winning so for series 2-12 the format was changed to a knockout tournament. Series 13, the last one completely changed the format. It had different rules and rounds and instead of having two teams of four it had three pairs.

Who Wants to be a Millionaire reduced the rounds to £1 million - used to be 15 - and added an extra lifeline. Other slight changes too, I think.

I'm sure that the contestant has always had to bet on one or the other. Channel 4 would be giving away far too much money otherwise.

Mastermind used to have a rule which prevented a former contestant from taking part a second time (but they repealed it); they originally had 1½ minutes instead of 2; they origninally cut off the question as soon as the beep sounded (the catchphrase "I've started so I'll finish" was introduced to explain the change when it was changed).
Countdown changed the number of rounds it has per episode. |

No, as SuperAPJ said, it's always been the case that you have to leave one drop free. So in the final question, it's always been all or nothing. |

In the first series of Pointless the head to head was decided by accumulating points from the answers.
The loser was the first team to break one hundred points after an equal number of questions, or the lowest score if both teams broke the 100 barrier after an equal number of questions. EDIT (Just remembered) - Oh yes, there were also Five Teams in the first series, so there was an extra round as they went from 5 to 4 to 3 to 2 before the head to head. It's a shame they didn't keep that becuase there just a little bit too much filler now. |
