After seeing the Ratings over the past couple of weeks & last year when it launched it makes me wonder due to Cowell's Idol contract which forbidden him bringing the X Factor to the States

has it come to the U.S too late ?

especially as its up against The Voice which launched on NBC a few months before X Factor USA which proved a Hit & also being compared to American Idol

Also idol is the number 1 rated broadcast show still.

Possibly. The best time to have launched it would hve been right after Leona's win. X Factor is already in the descent in the UK so launching it in the US seems a bad idea.

I think so. I think it's had it's day here and they missed the train by taking it to the US so late. I can't believe American Idol is still on...

If it had just been XF and AI I think it would've done a lot better, but the voice seemed to come out of nowhere and throw a big spanner in the works.

Mind you, the 4th episode of XF on Thursday got over 10m (according to wiki anyway) so there's a chance things could improve.

It's not the amount of viewers that counts in US ratings its the amount if people watching in the 18-49 demographic. These are the viewers that advertisers pay larger amounts to reach.

Did you read my point above? As the highest rated I sports show why would AI not still be on? That's the problem for X Factor. Although the ratings are lower than they used to be for idol it's still a powerhouse tv show. When X Factor started here Idol had finished so it had a clear run.

Maybe X Factor Australia put them off. Didn't that get cancelled after one series in the mid 00s? (only to be brought back successfully several years later)

XF Aus had nothing to do with it. Simon wasn't allowed to bring the format to the states because of his contract with Idol.

Yep I did. I meant I can't believe it's still on and gets so many viewers after all these years. Obviously I can see why the company still make it. But I'd never have thought it would last this long.
