Super Mario Wii/Wii U question

Hi, am thinking of getting a Wii U, and never had a Wii.

I was looking at the Super Mario games, but do you need to play with more than one player to complete these - is it impossibly hard with one player?

Nope. They're fully playable with one player. In fact, it's probably better if you're into platformers as you won't have the other players getting in your way.

The multiplayer aspect is just a hook to get people in. As such, the levels are larger to accomodate the increased amount of players, and so there is far more exploration

Thanks, I miss playing platformers and looking at some of the Wii catalogue and launch WiiU titles, I think I will be spoilt for choice!

I haven't bought NSMB2 yet, and probably won't. In effect, it'll be pretty much the same as I can play NSMBU without having the main screen on, so I can play that at the same time as my mum and other half watching Dancing on Ice
Not often I take my 3DS out with me, not unless I'm going away for the weekend, so I tend to play Mario at home. It's win win!

Mario games should always be single player. I have never bought any of the New Super Mario Bros titles because of the gimmicky multiplayer. They also all look exactly the same.

Keeping the same general aesthetics doesn't mean a thing. Unfortunately it's a common thing with games using 3D models as developers can be less artistic.

The games are fully and completely playable as single player. The option for multiplayer in no way hampers the actual single player.

New Super Mario works really well as a multiplayer game.

Lots of teamwork is involved.

As a one player it is probably more challenging.
