Now, don't get me wrong, the girls weren't spectacular on X Factor, however I felt like they were always treated as 'second best' to One Direction (whom I actually love nowadays). They were great singers, however were constantly given rubbish song choices, and awful styling. I really wished Cheryl had been given the groups that year, I think she would have known how to handle them.

It's sad as by the time ('Girls Up' release), Belle Amie had actually improved, they were considered X Factor rejects and they never really shook off that label.

Rebecca explains how hard it was for them:

I wasn't a HUGE fan, however I always felt that they had potential. I think Belle Amie prove that it really matters what mentor the contestants get. I mean, would Little Mix have won if it weren't for Tulisa's great mentoring and great song choices. Would Cher Lloyd be where she is, if Cheryl hadn't believed in her and given her songs that showed off her talent.

My old favourites, after seeing them at judges houses I was really pulling for them to do well. I agree they had a tough time and Simon basically decided to leave them when they said they weren't happy with the why he was taking them. Then again Simon usually did put all his eggs in one basket.

I thought most of the time their vocals were really really rough. Breakaway and the BOB song especially.

Vocally they were above average, but they didn't seem to get along, plus the poor song choices, were what made they failed to make it any longer in the competition. You can tell Simon was not interested in them at all, all he cared about was One Direction, he just had to choose another 3 acts to make up the numbers.

I loved their cover of Katy B's On A Mission they posted after the X Factor I think they tweeted something like they didn't get a choice in what they got to sing.
