Lol if John was a rule breaker then so was Despina. Emelline/Art Bitch was her debut material and not stay away which was her third.

Yes or no? You have the deciding vote, so I need a decision.

Artist debut.... the theme was as long as the artist debuted in 2011 or 2012, Charli debuted in 2011 so her song does count

SD, EOS already cleared that issue up, it didn't have to be their debut single, Who You are is a rulebreaker because her debut material was released in 2010 not because it wasn't her debut material.

Michelle Barrett:

That was incredible Michelle, I adore that song, it's such an epic track and your vocals were so amazing on it, they sounded really sultry yet very powerful, I love how you have shown that you're not just a diva ballad singer, you have a really lovely tone and a great style and I believe that you have proven yourself to be a varied and unique artist, congratulations Michelle, I couldn't be prouder.

Okay first of all, yes to the previous question.

And secondly, Michelle that was also your best performance to date, it was indeed a whole lot better than before. Whatever happens tonight, your mentor has done a grand job with you, much better than me. I think you're gonna go on and become a hugely successful artist for a long while. Well done on tonight, Michelle, you should feel happy with that performance.

Was just about to say. Going through the thread, and Charli XCX was around well before 2011!!!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charli_XCX

Looking at the wikipdia page of Charli XCX's discography, she released two singles in 2008. The theme didn't specify UK releases, so this too is a rulebreak...

Michelle Barrett

This was a good choice for you Michelle and it suited the way your vocals work as a whole. I found the tone of the singers voice to be slightly off compared to your vocals but it didn't matter because it still fitted your style and the way you sing so I have to say that it was a fantastic choice for you and a great job by your mentor

Oh, Despina is a rulebreaker too it appears.

Both are then.

oh Despina's a rulebreak? From what I knew Charli didn't have any other stuff previous to 2011... at least that's what i got from the itunes

If thats the case then ill fairly accept that who you are is a rule breaker as well

With all the crap aside, back to the show.

Michelle Barrett

Damn it! That was such an endearing performance. It was stylistically odd but i kinda liked it. The vocals were not as strong as the first performance but they were still beautifully executed. The song kinda stayed at one point for me and didnt quite go anywhere but i still liked the performance. I do think that you have the potential to go slightly further and i hope that you will have they opportunity. Well done Michelle and your mentor.

I don't know if you've noticed, but I'm still missing a comment for Michelle...

Okay, let's leave the controversy that upstaged two performances behind us and enjoy the penultimate performance of tonight's show.

It's time for Brennin Hunt with 'Forever My Father' by Go Radio!

Can we have the next performance?

Brennin, that was without a doubt your best performance to date. And it was a rock song as well which is what you do best above all else! Keep on rocking, Brennin, because you are sailing through to the semi-final after that performance. I hope the public will vote for you because you deserve it. Another fantastic performance, well done tonight.

Brennin Hunt

I hate to be the bearer of bad news Brennin but Go Radio first released material in 2008, an EP was released then and even at that, they released singles on I Tunes in 2009. So whilst it was a decent performance, another rule breaker I think?

Brennin Hunt

Brennin this was another great performance but..... Go Radio debuted in 2010 with their album Do Overs and Second Chances.... awkward

Brennin Hunt

That performance was utterly gorgeous. Im pretty sure that the stripped and acoustic performances from the past few weeks was a little to repetitive and we decided that we should choose a heavier rock orientated song for the second performance. I loved that you started to song slightly softer and then pounced into the chorus with the more aggressive vocals. I loved how your tone was showcased throughout the song and the undeniable power in your voice especially when you go higher was impecable. It was a slightly different from the usual stuff but you definitely delivered a brilliant performance.

Okay, that went better than expected with regards to controversy. With another rule breaker added to the list, it's really becoming a none-issue now...

It's time for the final performance, which will be brought to you by Miss Fitz again: 'R.I.P' by Rita Ora (Acoustic)

I'm sorry if the theme description wasn't clear enough, but the good thing about the rule break system I use is the fact that the public can decide whether they care about acts breaking the rules or not themselves. And hey, you'll still have a chance of winning the competition no matter what happens tonight.
