I thought it was painful to listen to. He clearly can sing, but to me he's like a talented artist, capable of producing many styles, but making the unforgivably naive decision of putting them all together in one nightmare of a painting in a misguided tactic to please all.

Me too. This guy can sing unlike some of the others that got though. I too have listened to his youtube performances, they are fantastic.

Imo he made the mistake of choosing to show off his range ahead of actually singing the song well.

Well that's why he is in the competition- to be mentored & guided as to how best utilise his voice... He's not a professional singer (yet) and is there to be taught. He is oozing raw talent which is more than I can say for a lot of the other dire acts let through this year

I think that someone with true musical ability would instinctively know that less is more. He seems to be under the impression that more and more is more.

To me he wasn't even singing the tune. Awful, awful, awful.

And the weird giggle he does freaks me out.

i just find him really creepy with little personality. I never hear his voice because I'm too busy cringing.

I find him creepy as well he makes me cringe. He can sing sometimes but I think he will be out of his depth when they have to sing all sorts of other songs. Peculiar character, no stage presence and no personality.

He started off OK - then went pitchy and ended up in the wrong key!

I'm not sold on the nerves and shyness. I think he needs to learn how to walk before he can run. Just sing the melody.

I have to admit he fascinates me. He's immediately the one whose CD I would be interested in listening to. His voice is unique, in an unusual, even weird way, and he has extraordinary range and power, which is often the thing male singers frustratingly lack in talent shows.

He has a tremulous quality to his voice which can bring emotion to his singing. But I think because of that his is the type of voice where nerves will really show, affecting his throat and control, and hopefully he will settle down, have more confidence when professionally coached to perform a 2.5 minute piece each week, and they'll snip his vocalising runs, which can otherwise be all over the place.

If they can focus all the best bits about him he could well be the one to beat. His audition showed what can happen when the right application and vocal discipline is given.

Odd young man with a creepy giggle at the end of every sentence. Also a pointy bottom

He will be a nervous wreck if he makes it to the lives, so I hope for his sake he doesn't. He needs to man up and get a thicker skin. He didn't even want to go on stage because he had done terribly the day before. Says it all really.

Gutted he and perma tan have got a place ahead of Joe the rocker. I can forgive Rylan because we all know a novelty character has to go through as it's part of the script.

Joseph was my favourite (before he got shafted for Rylan), but of all the boys left I definitely think Jaheme is the most special. His voice is incredible.

I think Jaheme is unique too. He clearly had an anxiety attack which, given he is intensely shy, has never performed before and is completely new to all this,is hardly surprising.

He doesn't really know how to handle himself, or his amazing voice and I think he needs some very good mentoring - which he will get.

I hope he survives the intensity of the whole thing.

A good analogy

it was horrible. his first audition was amazing, but he completly butchered 'will you still love me tomorrow' it was all over the place, its not the type of song to sing like that, it was awful. check out james durbin from american idol last year if you want to see how that song should be covered

Maybe it's just me I thought he was crap. All that vocal gymnastics really annoy me and detracts from the song.

Is he autistic or just 'odd' ?

slightly off-topic even tho i dont think the guy is anywhere near as good as they tried to suggest but i thought it was extremely poor of the production to put on a clip of another act singing "crazy" over the shots of him struggling with what looked like real psychological problems behind the scenes

No star quality here or likeability despite the vocal talent which at best might be described as 'freakish' .........definitely OTT in the last audition spiralling into a different key which would have been car crash if there had been a track playing while he was ' improvising.'

Not buying the nerves back-story or virtually anything else that we are being served up at this stage of the programme that doesn't actually occur on the stage.....seriously hoping the 'contrived crap' overload doesn't continue into the live shows.....I know they're making an entertainment show but......

Ella to win.

Good post - I agree.

His voice is amazing and he comes across to me as a shy and tender soul and very likeable.
Which is refreshing to see in this day and age....

Reading some of the personal comments about him on this thread I do wonder what goes on in some peoples heads.
The way some people judge people they have no real knowledge of and have no empathy with.

I'm not a fan of vocal gymnastics and I do think he did a bit much of that in Will You Still Love Me - but his voice and tone are fabulous and I think he is the best singer in the competition this year.

With help and nurture he could be fantastic.

The guy who had to see the medics because he felt unwell.

I'm sure he's a perfectly nice young lad but I thought his bootcamp performances were dire. If I hadn't known he was supposed to be singing "will you still love me tomorrow" I would have thought he was doing an odd vocal warm-up exercise. It was horrible.

He should have stuck up for himself in the group round, but he seemed so glad being put in with two other "nice boys" that he just went with the flow - bog mistake. His recovery piece was phenomenal! He has a fabulous range and stunning vocal ability.

Phenomenal to your ears, offensive to mine.

Just goes to show how subjective music is!
