Problem with a 3G iPod
Hi,
I have a problem with a 3G iPod, entirely my fault but still! Basically as I have a new iPod, I thought I'd use the old one as an external hard drive. So I went into Disk Utility and (foolishly) formatted the iPod disk volume as Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Seemed OK so I disconnected the iPod and then realised I'd probably wiped the entire operating system. Sure enough, only the Apple logo appeared on the iPod's LCD. So I plug it back in and run the iPod Software Updater, but it can't find the iPod and tells me to plug one in. I'm getting worried at this point. The hard drive spins up and I see the Apple logo on the LCD but nothing else. It responds to key presses because I can reset it (to no avail). Is there anything I can do to get the system software back on the iPod, or is it a lost cause? Entirely my fault I know but can anyone help? My PowerBook detects some sort of FireWire device connected to the bus, but Disk Utility, iTunes and the iPod Updater application don't see a thing. tia
