What were the best Brendan scenes in the Laters do you reckon? Besides the final episode?
Him and Walker - the stuff when he arrived to deal with Mick. And controversially the body stuff - I know it was dark, but it was just so powerful and then when Chez walked in. My heart stopped.

The breakfast scene. That's not specifically Brendan though, because it was an agonising and hilarious collage of looks and subtext and confusion and anxiety for all of them separately.
ETA And Brawnee! The frisking! The flirting! |

I liked the dancing, sorry but I did, I also liked his phone call to Joel after he had done a runner and the police at the motel scene, the those aren't keys one.
The beach scene was lovely and I did like the dismemberment and sex scenes. I think the only scene I didn't rate was the waltzer punching, that was tacky. |

Sarah it might have been easier to say all of it
![]() Despite my dislike of the dancing and dismembering, they are both excellent scenes. |

And when he found Joel in the boot, and cuddled him.
Simon's arrival to deal with Mick. And with a bit of hindsight, the dismembering sequence. Brendan's breakdown in Pontins before the shag. I might as well just list every scene.

Can I just say how sad it is watching Brendan walk along the beach when they first arrive at the house?
No striding, no swagger.

No striding, no swagger.I have loads of fave scene, but I think they've all been said. Mostly the nana stuff, and the dancing. But also the shower/running/superman sequence at the start was amazing. And the start of ep 3, when he was coming down from the lighthouse, with no feeling. The bedroom scene with Walker, when he turned him down. |

I don't think a Later as ambitious as this would ever have been conceived if they didn't have Emmett at their disposal, but conversely, what a lucky boy he is to have four great writers completely on top of their game, two such inspired directors, and a crew and fellow actors who pulled out all the stops. He gave the performance of his life so far, but they gave him the support and material to do it.

The lighting and colour of those scenes is amazing. I don't really know how to explain it, but there was a sort of bleakness to it all that foreshadowed what was to come.

Oh yes completely. I'm going through the scenes at the moment and you compare the colours from Brendan on the beach with Cheryl in the first episode to the final one where it's so bleak. It's fantastic.
Oh yes completely, all the right things came together beautifully. I think they could have made it an entirely Brady Later this year, but they worked hard enough as it was! ![]()

Hey guys
![]() I was just thinking this morning about Stug wedding. I know people are saying that it wouldn't be possible/feasible/logical to pull off a Stug wedding in three weeks, but I kind of thought of a way they could do it and it wouldn't seem like a rehash of all the Fake Wedding stuff. I was thinking that maybe while Ste is attending Brendan, Doug becomes more and more worried about how close they are getting again. Maybe Doug is trying to think of stuff to do for the Wedding (I daresay it will be all he talks about from now on) and starts trying to arrange things and sort out a plan, but Ste's head is elsewhere. Then if Ste is worried about Brendan and is growing increasingly more stressed by Doug's rigorous plans that he just breaks down and starts saying to Doug that the Wedding stuff is too stressful and shouldn't be so stressful and all these plans aren't the reason they're getting married blablablah and flounces off. The Doug becomes paranoid that Ste is pulling away because of Brendan, so he decides to plan a smaller ceremony and kind of 'surprise' Ste with the idea of just a close small, uncomplicated ceremony and just do it in like a week. He would be all 'Ste, you're right, the Wedding shouldn't be about flowers and crap, I love you' yaddayadda. So basically Doug would pull the wedding forward, but it wouldn't be a big Wedding or anything, just simple. Of course they will never ever get married but it could be the catalyst for why the Wedding is so close if they decide to make it something small and simple. Plus Doug's paranoia would maybe cause him to pull the Wedding forward to as soon as possible in order to test Ste. He's been testing him a lot so it wouldn't surprise me. I really hope they don't go down the wedding route. Seems so tacky... BH |
