App Store ipad

Noticed that when you are a alerted on an update from the App Store, when you click to update, it automatically updates without having to put your password in?

Always before you had to enter this?

The only way around it is to go to settings and remove your apple ID, but never before did you have to, always had the box pop up to sign in?

I have asked a few others and theirs is the same.

So is this a new thing, if so it is not secure?

As part of iOS6 the requirement to input a password for updates to already installed apps or free apps was removed. You will still be asked for your password for paid apps.

However, my iPad and iPhone are still asking me for a password for updates and I cannot find any other settings that may be affecting this.

I have in-app purchases swiitched to off and the requirement to ask for a password "immediately" rather than after 15 minutes (the only 2 options). Anyone else got any suggestions what might be causing this?

I'm still getting the sign in box on my 4s and that's for the free ones too.

Odd how one is, and one is not.
