Joseph Whelan, a missed oppertunity
This guy really has a great voice. I just dont understand the mentality behind the xfactor judges picking someone like rylan over someone like joe. Watch his live studio recordings and its clear he has talent.

Rock acts are rarely popular on the X Factor
I suppose you could say Ben Mills but he was versatile and wasn't belting out classic rock anthems every week |

XF has always, and will always, have a novelty/joke act in the lives because they think it makes good tv. It gives the judges something to argue loudly about, (always 'good' tv)
It's just a terrible shame that decent singers, like Joseph Whelan, have to sacrificed on the altar of dumbed down tv.

Could say that about the girl who writes and sings her own songs ... talented? yes without a doubt, Versatile for x factor? no....she can not sing outside her style. I can imagine her songs being sung by others with difference arrangements and production... that's her talent ...

There are two WGWG through to Judges Houses, Whelan would have made three - fine by me, but I can see why one of them had to go. I really liked Whelan, but, as has been said, rock ain't that popular with XF audiences and they already have a rock voice with Melanie Masson.

I think they did miss a great opportunity, Joseph would have really been popular with the ladies and they're the ones that vote the most. He has got a great voice and a great personality as well

I was so shocked when he got cut - I know I'm going to get hate for this but I feel as if he would've lasted longer in the live shows than Melanie Masson as he'd have the female voters and plus I just can't imagine her as a recording artist. I hope that Joseph comes back next year, that can't be the last we hear of him.

Very sad to see Joseph didn't get through. Fantastic voice & easy on the eye, he also has the X factor (IMHO) so why they sacrificed him is beyond me?

Really sad to see him go particularly when yet another annoying novelty act (Rylan) gets to stay. That's XF for you.

I suspect his connections with the most wanted man in Britain probably didn't help.

Thanks Joe was not parts of the murder so not really a big deal imo. And if that was used as part of the reason for him not going to the judges house then they are some very shallow stupid people out there. But oh well you cant know and stop what people may get up to after you have met them. |

It is the only real explanation for me for why he wasn't included.
It's beyond a joke if Rylan is considered more talented or entertaining. For me I think its XF trying to get on the towie band wagon that seems to be all over the gossip mags etc. As XF for year has not been about good singers but about whats trending etc. shame really as I would have loved to see Joe on the live shows. |
