I've seen a lot of negative comments about Lucy and I don't get it. I think she's so clever and her songs are brilliant! This is just a thread for positive comments and i was just wondering how many people actually like her.

I think she is great and just what this karaoke competition needs. Not the best voice, not the best looking, but warm, clever, insightful and funny.

I love her. Already more than I have any previous contestant actually

You should post in her appreciation thread for a thread of just positive comments though, I think anything posted on here is subject to anything goes

I am gay and a Victoria Wood fan

You'd think she might appeal to me. Cannot stand her

I think she's intelligent and funny, and I like her, though I'm not sure X Factor is the right place for her.

My thoughts exactly, think she would have been a better fit on BGT.

Hope I'm wrong though, I'd like to see her do well.

I am straight and Victoria Wood grates on me like fingernails down a chalkboard. I find Lucy Spraggan a constant joy.

Surely between us we can put an end to the "Lucy Spraggan = Victoria Wood MkII" posts, which I can only guess come from people who have never much liked either

I like her. I like her songs. Unfortunately she can't sing anything else.

Totally agree, she is really talented, but she is not going to be able to cut it on the live shows and X-Factor may ruin her.

I'd guess some people will still be saying this once the live shows start, but I don't think there'll be nearly so many.

Still doesn't seem to have come to everyone's notice yet - admittedly XF editing hasn't helped - that she wasn't invited to sing Tea & Toast at bootcamp to get her through, but as a treat for Tulisa and the audience when she'd already impressed the judges while singing other people's songs

With a sprinkle of Lily Allen

It all adds up to One Trick Pony

I like her and think she's really good at what she does. But she's not right for the X Factor at all. She has a very specific style and that won't translate to the kind of songs sung on the show.

If Simon had any sense he'd sign her now and not put her through to the lives.

You say that as though it didn't apply to almost everyone else. Or was I asleep when Olly wowed everyone in Heavy Metal Week, Matt Cardle stunned the judges with his rapping skills and Little Mix did a good ol' country hoedown?

I promise I'll give up on saying it soon, but I'm thinking Lucy will prove herself about as versatile as almost anyone else this year and more versatile than some. Only she'll still sound like Lucy, and the people who would rather nobody sounded like Lucy still won't care for it.

Perhaps when this is all over she will gravitate to Radio 4, the natural home of the mildly amusing song.

I really like her, she is very talented, her songs are cool win or not, comes 5th or 10th, the girl has a big future ahead of her.

The problem for me is that she just comes across as a pub act. No star quality, just a mess. She could have a good career in song writing though.

She's good. But her 'style' will soon get tiresome. I think she might be a bit of a one-trick pony.

If you listened to her album you wouldn't say that.
