Joseph Whelan Facebook Campaign gains Momentum (113,000 likes and counting)
I didn't really think there would have been that big of an outcry for him to be reinstated. Surprised, I think people are annoyed also that an act like Rylan got in over him .

I'm going to be honest.
I like Joseph and I would have loved for him to have made it to judges houses. But these petitons never work and nothing is going to happen. Joseph's best bet would be either try and make it alone or apply again next year. |

It did seem a little strange that he got sent home considering how much he had featured in the main shows. He had way more screentime than some of the boys who actually were picked for JH...

Fact is even without Rylan the producers / judges thought the other 5 were better for the show.
He was ok and possibly better than one or two of the others but he's not in the final six. Get over it. |

Not going to work. It didn't work for Laura, Lucie or Gabbo so certainly won't for him

Its seems him being cut was sort of set up by Nicoles comment just after he finished singing- something to the effect that she could see him sitting around a fire singing with her and her friends, but she did not think he had the x factor.
This has been one criticism I have had with Nicole in the past- on the USXF... she is not good at identifying the x factor (because in many ways the x factor is the only element she lacks and has kept her from being a mega hit). (The opposite example would be Danii and Cheryl who have less talent, but far more of the x factor. And it seemed maybe because of that- they were pretty good at picking contestants who had the same). Maybe overstated a bit- but the basic point holds true. At any rate- he should certainly be in the top 6 guys. And it is a bit odd that he every clip they showed of him was him nailing the song. Usually the person that gets cut after receiving a lot of air time is in some way portrayed as on the fence in one performance, or no confidence, etc? |

Sure, it's annoying to see them pick acts like Rylan over Joseph, but that's just a tiny, tiny factor. For me, it's mostly about them not picking the most unique male voice they had in the competition. I don't give a flying flip about facebook, so I've not voiced my opinion there, but I can totally understand why others have. |

I can understand some of the lads being annoyed at being overlooked in favour of Rylan but would rather have seen Curtis or Joe take his place than Joseph. He's fine, don't get me wrong, but was no standout for me. I also dislike the homophoboc tone of some of the fan pages. What has being a 'real man' (whatever that is) got to do with anything?

Rylan is playing by the rules and is playing the game well. This is about getting through and trying to make it in the entertainment industry, not just singing. He is in it to get something from it at the end which could be a TV show or a role on TOWIE. Fair play to him.

http://www.facebook.com/www.Josephwhelanxfactor.co.uk Thoughts ? To the main point. Joseph has a child. Since when was that a good reason for doing well in a singing competition? Sure, he's better than Rylan. I'M better than Rylan! Better contestants than Joseph have been overlooked but he seems to be getting all of the wounded self-righteous attention. I just wonder if he has been the unwitting tool for some people with other, nastier agenda? |
