thick question. please humour me.

i know nothing about tablets. say for example i had a galaxy note 10.1... i guess it has 3g and wifi. now, what i want to know is when you use the 3g do you have data allowence like with a mobile phone and if so, how do you pay for it?

You buy a SIM card exactly as you would for a phone

Not necessarily. You can just get a pay as you go SIM and buy data as an when. For example, O2 do one for £2 for 24 hours or £10 for a month. No contract. So the 3G version might be worth having with a SIM for standby

You could just get a free sim from giffgaff and just top up £10p/m for unlimited internet.

It does come with 3G, but the 3G model is £125 more expensive than the WiFi model.

I also thought it was ridiculous how much extra 3G models cost when all they have added in is a SIM reader and an antenna!

I just had a look at the Samsung buff and have noticed they do indeed do a 3G version.

Should have looked first.

£125 more wow, you could buy a tablet for that amount.
