Who were/ are your favourite Nu Metal bands? Mine has to be Korn

I used to like Linkin Park and Limp Bizkit in 2000 to about 2005. Korn were good also.

Korn for me. Crank the volume for when Here to Stay kicks in after the intro. Stomptastic! Do SOAD count as NuMetal? I like them too.

I was right into that scene in the early days. Korn were the best thing about it, in hindsight. That first album sounded so mad when it came out.

You could say SOAD were part of nu metal at the start of their career. But moved beyond it eventually. Just like Deftones.

Limp Bizkit. Bit of an embarrassment these days. I loved that first album for years though. It was heavy.

Other bands worth a mention...

Orgy
Coal Chamber

I always took umbrage to any of these bands being associated with what Metal was/is, to be Metal is guitar solos, ear raping screams and songs 7 minutes+ I mean like Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and Metallica in the 80s...these "nu" bands had none of that.

Are, Nu-Metal. Has any sub-genre of music ever been more mocked?

That's why it was called "Nu Metal" and not just metal

No, what I meant is that there are no metal traits whatsoever for it to be even deemed "Metal" it'd be like calling Coldplay "nu-folk".

Um I'd say the fact it featured heavily distorted guitars and was riff-based demonstrates it had metal traits

Wrong, imo. There are loads of non downtuned metal that was born from the nu metal sound and producers.

One example. Roots by Sepultura. (produced by Ross Robinson, the Phil Spector of nu metal. Guest performances included members of Korn)

It was all just metal at one point. It took a few years before the likes of Kerrang pinned the name "nu metal" on these acts. In fact, it happened right when Limp Bizkit's Significant Other was released.
