Muse - The 2nd Law - listen now online

I'm surprised this hasn't been posted yet. Muse have put their new album up online for anyone to stream a week before it's release.

Listen to The 2nd Law, here:

I'm liking it a lot. Obviously it's nothing like their earlier albums but any Muse fan knows as the years go on their "sound" changes. I could have never imagined them doing something like years ago Panic Station, but it works

Panic Station .... It's brilliant, I can't get it out of my head.

Should have been the first single, it could have gone top 5.

As for the Album... I'll give 7/10. It's just very weak in places and some of the songs are just tedious.

The best songs on there are: Panic Station, Supremacy, Animals and Liquid State.

Muse are on Later with Jools tonight at10pm and Friday at 11:05pm
Quote:
“Joining Jools on the first show of the series are Teignmouth's own global rock superstars Muse, who return to the show with anthems from their sixth studio album The 2nd Law.

An improvement over The Resistance. As a fan since Origin of Symmetry who's seen them live twice, I found that album disappointing. Survival and Explorers are terrible tracks but I enjoyed the rest of it for the most part. Doesn't touch Origin/Absolution/Black Holes for me though.

Shame they didnt get the Bond theme, Supremacy has it written all over it with the strings in the background covering the Monty Norman rift.
Would have kept in with the rock sounds from the previous two, even though the White/Keys thing was a bit of a dog to be honest, which is probably why they went the Adele route.

Muse seem to be channeling Queen more and more. Their new stuff is very 80s. I like neo-classical arpeggio metal but it didn't fit in with their new stuff.

They've gone straight to "Hot Space"

I got that Queen vibe as well, with a bit of Adam Lambert thrown in there. It's a really interesting and beautiful album that Muse have come back with in my opinion. So much better than The Resistance.

Wwithout the arpeggio stuff the Madness solo could have been by Brian May.

Funnily enough my son (massive Muse fan) commented yesterday that he thought a few tracks were very Queeny.

I listened to the Album yesterday and loved it, especially track 8, Explorers

My expectations for this were very low due to The Resistance and the snippets we heard of the new album but it's really surprised me in a good way. It's no way up to the standard of the first 4 albums but a massive improvement on The Resistance and a good album in general bar a couple of tracks.

Pre-ordered with confidence after The Resistance (and all that had gone before it), but found the first three songs a sometimes embarrassing slog such as Muse have never been for me before, and... oh dear. I've always found Muse to be more than the sum of their influences but I'm not getting much of that here yet. Given that the obvious influences (aside from a snatch of, Charpentier was it?) are Queen after they lost me, the 80s which are the one recent musical decade I wouldn't much miss, and an ever so lacklustre absorption of dubstep it doesn't augur well. Then, from all the other responses I'm seeing they must have done something wrong in The Resistance and they must be doing something right here. I'll keep listening.

The Resistance is much stronger and that was their weakest album to date.

It's so uninspired and the last two 'songs' are just pointless and a crap attempt at redoing what he did with the last 3 tracks on 'The Resistance'.

Listened to this about 5 times in the hope it will click with me eventually but it hasn't.

I'd say there is about 2 songs that i enjoy.

Really disappointing, been looking forward to this.

Madness is the best on there to be honest, the rest is dismal.

Having been a huge fan of Muse since Origins Of Symmetry I am looking forward to the release of 2nd Law, just listening to it now and so far I'm so looking forward to the release on Monday. I was disappointed with The Resistance but listening to the new material I can see this fast being my album of the year.

I don't mind Muse, an amazing live band, but their records are frankly bat sh1t crazy.
I think that's probably what I like most about them, big strings and bat shit crazy and plenty WTF moments.

Heard Supremacy last night and in parts it could have been a Bond theme.
They'd have to rein it in a bit though

Shame The Bourne Supremacy wasn't scheduled to be made. It could have fitted nicely.

Supremacy sounds Bondesque but they've plumped for Adele rather than continuing the Craig Bond rock theme theme.
Muse have a Bond theme in theme and that is obvious.
Sadly they might miss out to a bland song about being dumped.
2nd Law is ok. The last two tracks are a waste of space though. There's a solid 10 track album in there though.
