I do think that the storm may have had something to do with voting. The eastern seaboard did not air DWTS on Monday and the rest of the country was watching Piers Morgan's live coverage on CNN or so it seems. So the voting may have been low.

I thought it very odd last night that a) no bottom two and b) Tom did not turn to the judges before elimination and ask the usual "what does it mean if we lose...."

I'm confuse now what do you mean with no bottom two and Tom ?

Couples in the bottom 2 usually get a vote bounce - it could be that the producers want rid of a certain couple so decided not to give them that.

The bottom two was not announced so we don't know who the other couple was (I agree with - it gives the other couple a votor boost for the following week after being in the bottom 2)

Usually during the bottom 2 announcement as I recall Tom turns to the judges and aks "what do we lose when we lose ____? giving the judges a chance to weigh in.

Where's the dance off when you need it?

The plot thickens, sounds a bit suspect, very odd. As you say the surviving couple may get a boost of sympathy.

Just seen the result. Nobody has posted that Dancing With The Stars uses a different voting system to us and has done since about season 3 I think.

They allocate half the votes based on the judges scores as so..

Sabrina & Louis 88.5 6.58%
Apolo & Karina 86.5 6.43%
Melissa & Tony 86 6.39%
Shawn & Derek 84.5 6.28%
Gilles & Peta 84 6.25%
Emmitt & Cheryl 82.5 6.13%
Kirstie & Maks 82 6.1%
Kelly & Val 78.5 5.84%

That means the judges scores actually give the top couples very little advantage over the other couples - they may as well not contribute at all.

The public votes are then added so if you got 20% you would get 10% added to your score above.

Sabrina and Louis only need to be 1.5% behind all couples to get sent home.
EDIT LOL just ignore me

I think the points system is to ensure the worse dancer go first cause if you got a score like 12 then your pretty much doomed unless half of america votes for you.

Edit

It does seem to help get the really awful dancers out but when the scores are even it doesn't split them very well.

Okay, I'm having a bimbo moment.

If you got 20% from the public, isn't 20% added onto your score? Why would it be 10%? Sorry, as I said, bimbo moment.

Next week they are doing fusion dances (more craziness) and a swing marathon.

Here are the fusion dances as chosen.

- Melissa: TANGO/CHA CHA (chosen by Kirstie & Maks)
- Kelly & Val: CHA-CHA/FOXTROT (chosen by Sabrina & Louis)
- Emmitt & Cheryl: RUMBA/SAMBA (chosen by Shawn & Derek)
- Kirstie & Maks- QUICKSTEP/SAMBA (chosen by Karina & Apolo) the reaction of all four of them was hilarious.
- Shawn & Derek: TANGO/PASO (chosen by Melissa & Tony)
- Gilles & Peta - AREGENTINE TANGO/SAMBA (chosen by Kelly & Val)
- Apolo & Karina:CHA CHA /PASO (chosen by Gilles & Peta)
Sabrina would have danced Tango/Foxtrot had she stayed.
I thought that was a great reaction too from Kirstie - "you gave my favorite away!"

I think Saturn has halved the judges' percentage - at a glance they seem to add up to 50% - and so is doing the same with the voter percentage...just one way of doing the maths!

How come Sabrina just got voted off. Top 3 IMHO. However they decide the %'s it must be wrong. Yet Kirsty the real no-hoper stays????
I'm totally miffed

Yes, I don't understand it. Ok it's been explained that the scores mean practically nothing, but even so. I can't believe Sabrina is that unpopular compared to others. She is a much better dancer than most of them and she has more personality than most too.

Thought that Emmitt or Kirstie should have gone instead of Sabrina. Sabrina is one of the better more consistent dancers and should have got a lot further however I didn't like her Waltz it was boring and too sickly sweet and if people were voting after that show I can understand slightly why she went - people would have voted for Apollo because after Carrie-Ann's comments that they were in danger.

Sabrina and Louis' rumba was great but she does tends to attack to much. The most annoying thing is that people would rather see Kirstie or Emmitt or Giles (who is annoying me for some reason - I don't like his partnership with Peta at all) than Sabrina. I like Kirstie but it should be who you would rather watch dancing than who is more entertaining in reactions or vts. Sabrina would have been in my top 3 with Apollo and Shawn.

I don't think Shawn will go anywhere she has a huge fan base and she has Derek who also has a huge fan base.
My only concern is that the producer wants someone who didn't win before, and a popular male, and that will be Gilles.
Most of the ABC shows are promoting Gilles to win. So my guess he will be in the finals.

I think Apollo were underscore badly,Emmit, really? That dance didn't deserve 10. And Melissa was good but not worth ten. I don't get me start with Gilles, that was a naff choreography.
I feel so sorry for Apollo. I got the feeling he will go next with who knows.
I just can't watch the clips of the show anymore, I got upset because I don't see the logic of the scoring or the voting.
I'm done with DWTS.

Thanks for the link Lili.

The Dance Marathon, had the judges got their eyes closed for some of it Emmit was on a par with Giles so they should have followed each other out. Melissa as the winner cough fix, she was flagging and so was Tony but they won. Mark is usually like the energiser bunny for those marathons so how come they went out before some of the others? Apolo didn't look as energetic for some of his dance but was that due more to the style of their dance? Emmit was a messy dancer in that, but he stayed in ahead of Apolo, dancing properly doesn't count for much then.
